Whoever the original poster is......and whatever his motive..... he has said his "peace". So he don't like Canada.......so what. ?? Assuming he left after his 'unpleasant" stint in Ontario......and found greener pastures. Not a biggie. No one is forcing him/her to stay anywhere. Have to wonder why he would come to a forum like this to vent his spleen .......but heck each to his own...

outside of that........ nothing but a silly diversion..to other more important matters . Will consider this thread a "Complaints" thread...........and take all complaints under advisement. :wink:


*******IF the intention/motive was to INSULT, HUMILIATE, EMBARASS. or ???..........it did NOT succeed. Ya see, we in CA (as a rule) are not blind to our national shortcomings. We discuss them openly, and don't "justify" or "rationalize" (Or get defensive)..........like some nations we know do. We are comfortable with truth.......what ever the truth is. We are aware that progress is slow as is change......and just as in life......many areas need improvement.

Also, I shall write to the EU, European Parliament, lobby groups etc. and raise the issue of banking in Canada. I find it simply unfair that Canadian people can come to Europe and open up bank accounts etc. there whereas EU-citizens evidently cannot do likewise in Canada. I’m told that foreign nationals are prohibited by law from purchasing property in Canada! Imagine that!

I just saw this interesting website and thought I should add my comments about Canada based on my own experience with that country

newbie you hit the nail on the head. canada ain't nothin' more than talk talk talk. this is not a country which welcomes people from different lands other than white alnglo "only".

those who choose to come here realize soon that some mistake they made. some go back to their native countries the other (in large number) try to move to USA.

Azkahn, go to the UK and wait 8 months before you get your account opened. Canada is one of the easiest to do banking with in the world. The requirement of an address and a phone number is common sense.

I'm sorry to hear about your experience. As a Canadian from one of the far Eastern provinces, I don't think I'm alone in saying
the majority of Canadians have a similar dislike of Toronto. But to call the whole of Canada overrated with terrible people is quite the sweeping generalization. I've had bad experiences in Toronto and witnessed horrible things there as well. I can understand where you are coming from as it can be a very stressful place to live. My three closest friends can attest to that as formerly small town girls, now living in TO. Frankly, I don't enjoy visiting this particular city at all.

I love Montreal and know people from Europe who call it Canada's Paris!
I lived there for several months and enjoyed the pace of life and the love of ART and food (and just life in general) that the residents exude. (The markets are amazing!) The Montreal people work to live, not the other way around. Rent is definitely not nearly as high as it is in Toronto. It seems cafes and music are everywhere.

Quebec City is another gorgeous Canadian city full of beautiful old architecture and history. Vancouver is breathtaking (magnificent mountains, lakes and forests) without the extreme winters you'd find in other Canadian cities but the cost if living is very high.
The prairie provinces sound sunny, friendly, and with a beauty unique and all their own. (People from all over travel to Saskatchewan for star gazing at Cypress Hills) They also offer lots of work and lower rent.
The Maritime provinces (I'm a Maritimer) are full of down to earth, incredibly friendly and polite Canadians. The landscape is rugged and beautiful, we have a bit of everything. Many people from European countries are moving into Maritime provinces and love it here! They love the space, low cost of living, and polite people.

Anyway, I don't blame you for having a hard time finding anything nice to say about Toronto; in a country with over 30 million inhabitants, the majority feel the same way you do. But it is a HUGE country, Toronto is tiny in comparison.... so one day we hope you give other parts of this country a chance. You might just change your mind. Hope all goes well with you wherever you end up in this world of ours.
