tamarin said:I'm not a Bush supporter but I do know most underestimate him. Watching the last pre-election debate series between Bush and Kerry, I was surprised: it was obvious to me, although the media differed, that Bush had bested his opponent. He had clearly beaten who was supposed to have been his intellectual better.

But I just think Bush just doesn't understand the world. I'm amazed that Americans or any free people would chose such a moron to be their leader. Come on this guy almost died his first year from eatting a pretzel!!!
gopher said:As for Bush molesting Merkel, suppose it had been Clinton or some other Dem who did that? What would the controlled reich wing media say??????
jimmoyer said:The funniest thing about that little video is how some of the American conservatives have reacted on other boards. They're convinced that he was doing something nice for her, and that if you look closely you can see her smiling at the end.
Too funny.
However, I don't think the title that the media has given this incident is correct. Imo, he wasn't molesting her, just being himself - completely out of touch with what sort of behaviour is appropriate in a given situation. In other words, a maroon.

I agree. She did not expect it, nor does it appear she
liked it. Her Civilized smile towards the end means she's no maroone about it either and doesn't want to make any
more of what it is or what it was.
But I also saw the Kerry-Bush debates, and neither bested
each other. Both were their own worst enemies.
Kerry is a pretentious voice from God trying to imitate
the cadence and profundity of a John F Kennedy or
a Robert F Kennedy, and in that he'll always be an
insufferable bore. On top of that, you can never be
sure nor can he be sure about his own self where he
stands.
If you can get past Bush's moments of stymied
desperation to find the right word, you know this
guy is simplistic and unchangeable in his beliefs.
