This book sounds like its the worst type of gossipy, salacious, petty political rags. It's gotcha journalism, a political TMZ.
It was selectively edited to make President of look incompetent, unbalanced, infantile. And his White House as teetering on chaos. It's all crap. Wolf is a scandal monger. He's well known for his 'fuzzy' books filled with opinion and off the record remarks that lack context or proportion.
The only thing that this really shows is the White House Staff need some firm leadership to keep little shitballs like Wolf from setting up a desk on a White House Couch, trying to garner anecdotal remarks or frustrations with which he could smear the Trump Administration in the tense atmosphere of setting up a government.
I have no idea what Bannon was trying to do, because he is clearly smart enough to realize what Wolf is about. He seems to be trying to incarnate himself a political Svengali, but he should stick to issues, not vendettas against the Trump inner clan.

Attacking the author has been the first Klanbot tactic, but it isn't satisfying is it? I mean, Bannon hasn't denied it, Wolff says he has it all on tape and Trump lost his mind and is threatening to sue. The Klanbots are scrambling for just the right bullshit to save face with.
