Gunman takes hostages at Tomball, Texas hospital
Police have been responding to a hostage situation reportedly involving a gunman in a Tomball Regional Medical Center in Texas. Authorities have confirmed that at least two people are being held.
At least one person has been taken hostage on Saturday night at the hospital, which is near Houston, CBS affiliate KHOU-TV reported.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the situation to NBC-affiliated channel KPRC-TV, adding that at least two people are being held.
The situation was unfolding in the critical care unit and began around 7pm local time, AP reported, citing an emergency dispatch center official.
In a statement, the Sheriff’s office said it could not confirm if the hostage taker was armed. However, a man was earlier seen entering the hospital with a gun.
The county’s High Risk Operation Unit has arrived at the scene.
