I had an opportunity to go to North Korea once, but it would have been a guided tour......so i turned the offer down.
I have that opportunity 24/7 as does anyone with the money to go-what is your point that you're part of some privileged group?
That plus tensions between NK and the US was higher than usual at the time.
That is always the case they are both hysterical & paranoid 24/7.

The guy was on a guided tour. The tour company just took NK off the list. I wonder if they specialize in tours to hellholes?

I just meant that a friend had invited me to go before I'd ever even considered it. But yes, you're right, poor wording on my part.

PSA: Do not go to a country who's human rights are as questionable as NK and expect your citizenship will keep you safe.

This youngin' paid the ultimate price for not thinking before acting and for going to a country that is not welcoming.

ffs, it's NORTH KOREA! why would he do something so stupid in such a country.

Exactly. If I ever would visit North Korea, I'd stick to a tour group and do as I was told. But then if that's what I'd feel compelled to do to be safe, it would be too boring to make it worthwhile to visit.

It's for reasons like what happened to this person, that I will never visit certain countries.

The lack of an autopsy as per the family is indeed curious......

Doctors in Cincinnati said he showed no signs of infection when he first arrived on American soil, and was apparently in stable condition.

Dr. Daniel Laskowitz, a professor of neurology at Duke University, told NBC News that to suddenly die after several months in a "persistent vegetative state" would be the result of either an infection or a blood clot.

"If you are in a persistent vegetative state and you are just immobile for a prolonged period of time, you have a propensity to form a clot," Laskowitz said. "That can be catastrophic and precipitous."

He added that such a long flight from North Korea to Ohio could make a blood clot even more likely to form or spread to the lungs

This MD is also FOFS-flying doesn't cause clots being immobile for long periods does-so in jail in NK or home in bed (not being fed anti coagulates) was a risk but not being transferred.

When I was tending Bar back in the day, and someone from away would insist we play pool by the rules in their favorite bar to justify them winning when they hadn't, I used to sometimes let them take a couple shots in the head before I would step in to break up the fight.

If you do stupid sh!T in someone else's yard, you pay the price. Go take a walk at night in the ghetto without a gun if you doubt the reality of that statement...and NEVER go into the jungle with hamburger smeared on your head....

The guy admitted to his guilt by the way.
and BTW, the people I mentioned - they actually deserve real sympathy, and will never get to go home at all.

The truth is too inconvienient for the committed who are convinced that there shjt is special sacred and or wholesome green friendly organic earth poop.

Danbones,

I still fail to see how your post makes the above story any less tragic.
Use that gif on yourself if you think you are being told the whole story.

So you have been to Louisiana and witnessed things for yourself. Until you have some actual facts watch this timely movie about an American drug smuggler and his time in a prison in Turkey. America bled their hearts out for this wannabe get rich quick scheme. My heart bleeds purple pony piss for both of these Yanks. Don't do the crime if you can't do the time, . . . period.
