I was really hoping she would lose her riding in the election last year because of her 'history'.

These are the kind of problems that can destroy governments over time.
Oda should be asked to step down and if she does not then fire her.
She has done this before and she will do it again. Next she will be riding
with Peter on a helicopter.

I wonder if any of the people outraged over this have ever been to London. Not even freakin' McDonalds is cheap there. I had to make a couple business trips there in the 90s and staying on the Strand, we got a deal one time, at $225 per night. Staying near the airport was cheaper but then you incurred more in cab fares. The Savoy might have been a bit more expensive than the conference hotel, as it does have the world class reputation but at $665, doesn't seem that much more out of the realm. And sorry, but $16 for room service O.J. is just the price you pay in some places. We don't send cabinet ministers to Super 8 motels and McD's.

How come no one is complaining about our Prime Minister using this military plane to go to the different parts of the world for our country’s business?

He can easily take an Air Canada or West Jet plane for the fraction of the cost.

Everyone has to remember how the world views this country and they have to look like leaders that can help create change.

We also have to remember that our politicians are trying to make this country a better one.

This is the third time Oda has been caught and had to apologise for her profligacy. She, as has been noted in the media, is responsible for the department that is cutting aid to poorer nations and shutting down valuable NGOs.

She also narrowly escaped a finding of Contempt of Parliament over the infamous "not" change of a document. Saved by the anti democratic device of an unjustified prorogation.

I find her character to be at least odious but whatever incident you're referring to seems to have been edited out of the wikilink.

In 2006, Oda paid back $2,200 to taxpayers after the Liberals found that she had incurred nearly $5,500 in limo rides at the 2006 Juno Awards in Halifax.[6] In 2008, she was accused of hiding over $17,000 of limo expenses billed to taxpayers.[6]

I don't think the taxpayer should be footing bills for the likes of the Savoy. Their patrons should be the high rollers who are paying their OWN bills.

It's a non-issue. All members of all parties do similar things; David Dingwall and his company car (a BMW), any graft/bling given to MPs visiting another nation as a gift (Chretin received over 5000 'valuable' gifts - don't those belong to Canadians?).

The examples aren't important, but what is important is the nickle and diming that is going on... Really, Bev Oda should stay in a hostel to save a few bucks?

If we're so worried about a few hundred dollars per day, maybe Canada should scrap the entire foreign-aid program... We can all stay at the Savoy based on what we'll save in one year.

How about because we own the military plane and it is going back and forth across the country anyway for the military. A lot depends on scheduling.

There's an old adage.........."If you look after the pennies the dollars will look after themselves". You can't excuse one person's bad behaviour because "everyone else is doing". You knock them "bad ducks" down one by one as they pop up.

I tried, really I did...... As it stands, Trudeau has been offered that honour until a new champion of destroying a nation emerges.

There's another old saying: Don't step over a $20.00 in a rush to pick up a nickle.
