But to be fair it is Edmonton,

the ladies over there cannot resist all you can eat soup and breadsticks at the Olive Garden...
Quite epidemic all over the Prairies, I might add.

I still don't see how you feel this contest is unfair/unbalanced, or why you have such a personal stake in the fact that it is. Your view toward the women is sexist and appalling at best, as they are a much more attractive crop than the men were. And you ask constantly why you have trouble with women.

how is me saying that the women in the list they selected wasn't that great.. considered sexist?

it's called an opinion! there's nothing sexist about it Karrie...

sexist is saying that the women shouldn't get a chance to compete or have their own contest.

What comes off as sexist is that the women on there simply weren't the dogs you made them out to be, and the men weren't the catches you seem to think they are. That you'd pin such high standards to the appearance of women but not men says LOTS

not to mention the fact that you seem to think that the women are 'selected' rather than that they've volunteered to be part of this. You know contests like this can't walk down the street and demand people take part, right?

well jee, cause maybe I'm a man? and I don't exactly judge men the same because I'm attracted to women!

I am harder on the women because I am interested in them. as to the guys, I don't care really. but I look at them in a different way.

I pick out the potential A-holes, and punks, and morons, or geeks.. etc.

they picked 1 punk, 1 average guy and 1 attractive guy for the final 3.

and as far as the women go.. I was happy that some of the obvious ones weren't selected.

but they should have had 10 guys, not 3.

but they were selected.

it's possible that a few hundred women volunteered and the sun staff selected 20 finalists to be voted on.

Chili, you felt passionately enough about the fact that these women were unsuitable to, you claim, write a letter of complaint. No, that goes beyind 'it's just because I like women better'. You're shallow.

BTW, for anyone curious about why the contest is run the way it is.... the men are narrowed down to one man, who then gets to speed date the 10 women and pick one. A sexist arrangement if I've ever heard of one, and made double or triple-ly so when someone decides to bitch about the 'quality' of the women

What I've always wondered about these 'bachelor/bachelorette' shows on TV is, why would a group of people ***** themselves out on television like that, and then expect to be taken seriously? At least MTV's 'A Shot of Love' was honest. A bunch of people **** the host, and the host picks the best candidate. That's all these shows amount to, it's stupid if you ask me.

wrong.

they are all narrowed to 3.. and then the 3 gals date the guy introduced earlier.

and the 3 men are to date the woman introduced earlier.

Ah, I realized I was reading Calgary sun's contest... I'll check into the other one later. Still, your response and outrage over it is appalling,.

no... because you wrote a letter of complaint claiming that the women were not held to high enough standards. That the men were somehow all better looking than the women. It's absurd.

Northern Ontario,
Chili: One thing you better learn before you have any kind of meaningfull relationship with any woman.....

A woman has the last word in any argument.

Anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new
argument.

And two words work wonders....

Yes Dear!

its only my opinion Karrie.

I also wasn't as impressed with some of the guys. like seriously? they had a 42 yr old in the list.. there were a few of them that were laughable at best.

I don't think that they chose the best possible 20 men and 20 women.

Do you have any clue what their applicant pool looked like? Seriously, Chili, it's Edmonton, it's the Sun newspaper. It's a cheap contest run by a hack newspaper in a city with a tiny population. WTF were you expecting?

And BTW... the fact of the matter is, you're still immensely shallow for assuming anyone in that contest is not 'good enough' just based on their appearance.

Edmonton isn't exactly small town here. sure we're not a New York or a Toronto or a Montreal or Vancouver.

but we are a Million People with everyone around us together. the Edmonton Sun has quite a large # of readers, plus it wasn't the only participant in the contest.. the #1 radio station currently in the City is also a main sponsor.

so there is a very good chance that a large # of people applied for it. the fact that a woman who's in her Mid/Late 20's is the Bachelorette that is looking for love or someone compatible, why would you put a 42 year old on the list? you think that the guy honestly had a chance? even if he had managed to somehow get past the initial vote? hell no.

I don't care.

that's what happens when a vast majority of women reject you because you don't look exactly as attractive as they want you.

I have been living with that fact for years and I have had to face it all the time that when I try to interact with a nice, attractive woman and I am very compatible with them in numerous ways, they only look at my pictures and don't bother to even reply.

doesn't matter that I have many similar interests and hobbies and so on.. if I don't look good enough, too bad.

it's the facts of life Karrie, good looking men get all the breaks while the not so good looking have to fight their asses off just to get even half a chance with someone.

that's the whole point of this is that those men and women who were not voted for. imagine how they feel now when they woke up the morning and discovered that the majority of readers/voters didnt' think they were good enough..

most voters looked at them and decided based on their looks. ya some didn't but the majority did. it's just how it is.
