You are absolutely right, gerry..........I spent over an hour this morning trying to find some legitimate link to this comment but none was to be found. Though I agree with the sentiments, posting lies about what someone was supposed to have said serves no one.

Took you an hour?

Well, I suppose you were trying to be thorough. It reads like it's fake almost from the very beginning, so I copied a single line from the text and Googled it. Came up with the Snopes.com article calling it a hoax and several other sides either calling it a hoax or attributing it to another politician. Took me about 2 minutes to confirm.

That's probably the most efficient way to verify the source or veracity of an article like this. Google a sentence from it. Preferable a sentence that seems unique or quotable. Useful for teachers when routing out plagiarism too.

What makes it so genuine looking is it is a measure of what many if not most Australians are
thinking.

Do you really think it seems genuine? It might contain sentiments held by many Australians, but it reads fake from the get go. The first paragraph attributed to the Australian PM is passable. The second is an inaccurate generalization of Australian history. The third paragraph should be enough to convince someone that it's fake. No Australian PM would say something with that kind of off-kilter tone. It only goes off on an increasingly hysterical rant from there, reaching its absurdist crescendo with the "right to leave".
