Still nukes. Still have leaks. Still have a high potential to create a disaster.

Leaks, yes. Disaster? I suppose if you consider a radiation leak a disaster, then yes. But it's impossible for a candu unit to do what the Westinghouse designed reactors did. Completely impossible.

That doesn't seem to follow to surface currents or it would be a spiral with the floating plastic location as being the center. Ir radiation particles are 'heavy' they would travel along the bottom and not far off-shore there is a trench that is the deepest spot in the ocean. How would they 'climb' out of that trench?? That also means the die-off is caused by 'other factors' such as volcanoes along the eastern Pacific Rift releasing heat and CO2 like gasses into the water. (even air breathing whales can be affected once it transfers to the air and hugs the surface of the water as it is a heavy gas)

From Danbones' link:

This article was first published by Global Research in May 2015

It was the dying cry of Charlton Heston in the creepy 1973 film Soylent Green… and it could resemble our desperate near future.

The ocean is dying, by all accounts – and if so, the food supply along with it. The causes are numerous, and overlapping. And massive numbers of wild animal populations are dying as a result of it.

Natural causes in the environment are partly to blame; so too are the corporations of man; the effects of Fukushima, unleashing untold levels of radiation into the ocean and onto Pacific shores; the cumulative effect of modern chemicals and agricultural waste tainting the water and disrupting reproduction.

A startling new report says in no uncertain terms that the Pacific Ocean off the California coast is turning into a desert. Once full of life, it is now becoming barren, and marine mammals, seabirds and fish are starving as a result. According to Ocean Health.

But in reality:

Overpopulation of California Sea lions:

California sea lion are listed as “least concern” due to its large and fast growing population size by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. In 1970 there were close to 50,000 California sea lions in the US (does not include Mexico and other reginos) and now by estimation there are close to 300,000. Footnote

Sea lions have become a threat in both US and Vancouver Island rivers feeding on salmon before they head up the rivers and eating salmon fry in the rivers and at the mouth of the rivers before they head out to sea. The warmer California ocean conditions are pushing larger masses of sea lions to the northwest in search of food.

Nuclear power as we know it is deader than a door nail. I wouldn't rule out scientific advances resurrecting it but as it stands today it is a dying energy sector and really should be ushered out as quickly as possible.

Yes, the dead pacific ocean due to Fuk-u-shima, a typhoon, and the stuxnet virus is proof of that.

It isn't looking like drying your hair in the micro wave is doing you any good MF.

Lol

Fukushima is proof that having nuclear sites is perfectly benign.

How the world sees Canada's oil future — uncertainty ahead

Two recent reports — one from the International Energy Agency (IEA), the other from OPEC — provide some clues.

The duelling studies spell out the need for new oil and natural gas production to meet the increasing global appetite for energy as the planet’s population grows.

As the world’s fifth-largest oil producer and a significant gas producer, Canada is well positioned to supply additional resources to other countries.

Yet, the ability to build new oil and gas infrastructure remains an open question, with a number of big-ticket projects delayed or cancelled.

In its World Energy Outlook released Tuesday, the Paris-based IEA points out global energy demand will jump 30 per cent by 2040, with natural gas use climbing 45 per cent.

Like industry has ever slowed down because there will be some pollution left over. With coal being pushed as being evil and the alternatives still over the horizon that would seem to be a shoe-in for NG with CO2 being the by-product that will be billed as being a pollutant needing expensive measures to barely keep it in check
