What the hell do you mean disfunctional? I don't like the sponsership mess any more than you do but when Martin got the Auditor general's report, he jumped right on it. Quite a few people lost jobs. Some went to jail. Meanwhile Canada's economy is in better shape than the best of the G-7 countries in spite of free trade and in spite of the massive debt service costs that we can thank Mulroney for. Disfunctional would better describe Harper.

A significant number of people like myself are appalled at the sponsership scandal and the Liberal arrogance and corruption it represents.

So you'll be voting for the NDP and their ethics package then? :p

The globe and mail had a story today on Harper and Martin both facing losing their party leadership positions after this election. Perhaps this will help to improve things?

I don't think it will change much. The mean-spiritedness and the radical right leanings in the Conservative Party is endemic, so a new leader will be fronting for the same old people.

The rumours for next leader of the Liberals are basically Ignatief and Bob Rae. Either would most likely be kept on a short leash, so there'd be no real change there.

Both parties need some serious renewal within their backrooms for real change to take place.

I'd love to see the NDP pick up a few seats, but I think the combination of Liberal fear-mongering and Harper's negativity will transfer votes to the Libs. The Refo-, I mean the Allia-, I mean the CPC will probably pick up some seats out West, with the Bloc tipping a few Quebec ridings to themselves. I predict:

I think that Gomery/corruption combined with the NDP's ethics package may do a lot to diffuse that this time around.

It's important that anybody voting strategically look at their local races though. If you are voting to keep Harper out and live in a riding where the race is between the NDP and CPC, then a vote for the Liberals is really a vote for Harper.

Hell ya disfunctional. We have a massive scheme complete with cash-filled envelopes and kickbacks to the Liberal Party. They insist that they are the culprits, victims, and saviours all at the same time - and you're ok with that?? On top of that we have Martin throwing billions of dollars around on whatever grabs the headlines on a particular day. The man has no vision, no plan. His only priority is to stay in power.

Mike, you are a Conservative.

and a Harper fan and that is your absolute right. Gomery, who has been a Conservative for years, cleared Martin of any wrong doing in the sponsership scandal. People have been fired, arrested, and sent to jail. Do you not think that if any of these people knew Martin was involved they wouldn't blabber it to save their own skins? I'm satisfied that the guilty have been dealt with. Maybe Gomery might have more to say, but we couldn't wait for that could we? What I said about Canada's economy can easily be checked. Cheers...

RE: Anyone Care to Make a

If you decide to set up shop as psychic, Momsie, here's a trick for you....

When you're at the Psychic Fair and somebody walks up to your booth and gives you money, get them to rub their hands together for a few seconds while you do the same. Then hold you hands out palms up and get the rube to hold their hands palms down over yours. Look them in eye and say, "Can you feel the energy coming off of my hands?"

You'd be surprised how many people fall for that. ;-)

Cold and miserable is fine, Missile. Election day is a good day to hunker down on the couch or in a cozy bar with a brace of beer and watch the action.

I was watching the returns/election coverage in Iraq this morning, and if those people can go to the voting booths under the circumstances they face,I can easily trudge thru the ice, snow, freezing temps to cast mine. I am Canadian, after all :) I don't enjoy all this political debate I see on the Tube[especially the portly gent on CTV]

I can make an election prediction. Four words 'Complete Waste of Time.' No matter who wins there will be a lot of pissed off people, angry that their 'Golden Boy' didn't take the seat and even more people mad at the fact that we had to sit through almost two months of school yard mud slinging. Of course I could be wrong. . .
