Dalhousie University has made ‘Emergency Hijab Kits’ available to female Muslim students at multiple locations across the Halifax campus.
The fear is that female Dalhousie Muslim students are being targeted by individuals on and off campus and are having their hijabs forcibly removed. However, no such incidents have been reported to authorities.
(If there have been no reports of Muslim women being harassed then why the fear? Or should we assume this is LIE-beral Fake News designed to persuade the foolish and ignorant that LIE-beral `worries` about `Islamophobia` are real?)
The project was a joint venture between the Dalhousie Student Union (DSU) and Nova Scotia Public Interest Research Group (NSPIRG) and launched earlier this month.
(IT might be fun top find out who is behind the NSPIRG group? I smell crude Muslim propaganda here! But asking questions about this group will trigger LIE-beral whines about Islamophobia- and LIE-berals will then wonder why we do not trust them? HAHAHAHAHA!)
According to a Facebook post, the kits were made necessary due to increased violence on Canadian campuses towards female visible minorities.
“In recognizing the increased incidences of violence towards Women of Colour on campuses across the country, we’ve created these kits so that anyone who has their headdress targeted can quickly get access to a replacement,” reads the announcement by NSPIRG.
(But Dalhousie says there has been no violence? And with the reference to “women of colour” should we assume the reverse racist loons of Black Lives Matter are also involved with Muslim radicals? How crude does Muslim propaganda have to become before it is laughed out of the room?)
Speaking with CBC News, Dalhousie Student Union President Amina Abawajy said, “This is a proactive measure, but it’s not unfounded,” claiming to have been made personally aware of multiple incidents by way of being a member of the Muslim community.
The kits contain the scarf itself, pins for securing the hijab, tips for bystanders and information on how to report incidents to authorities.
Organizers have offered to make them available to departments and offices throughout Dalhousie in addition to the DSU Info Desk, the NSPIRG office and Dal Security for 24/7 access.
(You can bet there is OUR tax money involved in this crap! We know Black Lives Matter gets govt grants for its “efforts to foster good race relations”- by creating an idiot climate of REVERSE BIGOTRY AGAINST WHITES!)
Dalhousie spokesman Janet Bryson told The Canadian Press that while the university has agreed to allow the kits, officials do not expect the kits to be used.
“The university has not had a case where someone has had their headdress targeted,” she said in an email. “Our expectation is that they won’t have to be used.”
(It is possible that Muslim and BLM bigots are planning ahead for future protests against our society and worry that Muslims may lose their head covering during increasingly violent protests sponsored by Muslims and BLM?)
However, Masuma Khan, a Dalhousie Student executive member who was recently embroiled in a controversy of her own, disagrees and believes such incidents are common.

Comments made by Khan were placed under investigation by the university after she posted with the hashtag “#whitefragilitycankissmya–” in response to backlash over a motion to abstain from Canada 150 celebrations for “over 400 years of genocide.” The university later withdrew the complaint.
“I’ve heard many Muslim women talking about their hijab being yanked, spat on, or even pulled right off,” she said. “Sometimes you don’t even notice it, like you’re in class and someone will spit on you from behind and you don’t realize it until you’re fixing your hijab. It’s the most demeaning behaviour.”
A Halifax Regional Police spokeswoman said she wasn’t aware of any incidents related to head coverings being pulled off in the city.

Metrolinx Presto card rollout millions over budget.

(Surely nobody is surprised that the Presto fare system is way over budget? At the time it was chosen, some city councillors decried it as the most costly of the options available.)
It won’t take a magic wand to complete Metrolinx’ much-maligned Presto fare card rollout on the TTC, just tens of millions more than were originally budgeted.
Ontario Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca told the Toronto Sun that his government will pour a total of $385 million into the fare card rollout on the TTC. That’s up from the original $255 million budget set in 2012.
A report which will go to the Metrolinx board Wednesday breaks down the new cost escalation. The province will also spend an additional $59 million on “software features, infrastructure and upgrades” to help improve general system reliability with Presto, which is used in locations across the province, Del Duca said.
(City TV did a little piece on Presto reliability and found that 5 of 7 Presto card readers were routinely broken at one subway stop. As fast as staff repaired one, another would fail. The survey was only at one station during one typical week but it doe show that TTC riders complaining about broken Presto machines may have genuine reason to be annoyed!)
As of March, the province has spent $327.1 million introducing the troubled fare card system to the TTC. It will spend an additional $57.9 million to complete that work, bringing the total spend on the Toronto rollout to $385 million.
“We always knew this, the TTC knew this, Metrolinx knew this, it was always going to be the most complex of the deployments of Presto on any of our systems because it is the biggest transit system,” Del Duca said.
“The TTC is the oldest transit system with a lot of technical needs and requirements that wouldn’t necessarily exist in some of the newer transit systems.”
(And whose fault is it that TTC Hogs ALWAYS chose gravy for themselves rather than technical improvements to the TTC system?)
Del Duca said Presto is now being used by 2.8 million customers and that 99% of TTC vehicles and stations now have a Presto reader. Reliability has been increasing through the phased launch, he added.
“Recognizing that there were some challenges as the system was deployed ... we’ve seen reliability improve,” he said. “The numbers are getting stronger with each passing week.”
In February, the TTC estimated that 8% to 10% of Presto readers on TTC vehicles were broken. That prompted Toronto Deputy Mayor Denzil Minnan-Wong to declare Presto a “lemon.” He urged the TTC to stop paying the province for its use until Metrolinx figured out how to fix the problems.
(The informal City TV survey suggests the number of broken machines is more like 50 - 60 percent on any given day!)
Progressive Conservative transit critic Michael Harris said when these latest cost over-runs are added to the $220 million overrun on the creation of the Presto card system itself, that’s nearly $500 million in waste.
“This a significant financial disaster footed by the taxpayer,” he said.
Harris said with this type of spending, riders shouldn’t still be experiencing reliability issues when they use their Presto card.
“Only in Ontario under the Liberals do you pay more and get less,” he said. “Truly, that is the case here with Presto.”

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Somali-born student who went on a car-and-knife rampage at Ohio State University railed on Facebook against U.S. interference in Muslim lands and warned, “If you want us Muslims to stop carrying out lone wolf attacks, then make peace” with the Islamic State group, a law enforcement official said Tuesday.
(Oh right-we CAN make a sensible peace with the most savage and blood thirsty gang of killers in the world-nobody stages beheadings and executions with quite the style that ISIS can! Even Pope Francis refers to Isis as “the Nazis of our time”!)
The posts from Abdul Razak Ali Artan’s account came to light after Monday’s violence, which left 11 people injured. Investigators are looking into whether it was a terrorist attack.
“America! Stop interfering with other countries, especially the Muslim Ummah. We are not weak. We are not weak, remember that,” he wrote, using the Arabic term for the world’s Muslim community.
(Gee- how could authorities be confused about this being a terrorist attack?)
The posts were recounted by a law enforcement official who was briefed on the investigation but wasn’t authorized to discuss it publicly and spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.
“Every single Muslim who disapproves of my actions is a sleeper cell, waiting for a signal. I am warning you Oh America!” Artan also wrote.
Dozens of FBI agents began searching Artan’s apartment for clues to what set off the rampage.
Artan drove a car up onto a sidewalk and plowed into a group of pedestrians shortly before 10 a.m. He then got out and began stabbing people with a butcher knife before he was shot to death by a campus police officer.
Most of the victims were hurt by the car, and two had been stabbed, officials said. One had a fractured skull. Four remained hospitalized Tuesday.
On Tuesday, a self-described Islamic State news agency called Artan “a soldier of the Islamic State” who “carried out the operation in response to calls to target citizens of international coalition countries.”
The Islamic State has previously described other attackers around the world as its “soldiers” without specifically claiming to have orchestrated the acts of violence.
Artan was born in Somalia and was a legal permanent U.S. resident, according to a U.S. official who was not authorized to discuss the case and spoke on condition of anonymity.
A law enforcement official said Artan came to the United States in 2014 as the child of a refugee. He had been living in Pakistan from 2007 to 2014. It is not uncommon for refugees to go to a third-party country before being permanently resettled.
(I say Muslims come to North America strictly for money-they certainly are NOT coming for religious freedom! Money is not a good enough reason to let them in!)
Upon arriving in the U.S., Artan was referred for a secondary Customs and Border Protection inspection, but nothing abnormal was found, according to a U.S. official who was briefed on the investigation but was not authorized to discuss it and spoke on condition of anonymity. A secondary inspection is often routine and based on someone’s travel history and length of stay in certain countries.
(Given the fact that Somalia literally has NO GOVT- only local warlords with their own agenda- so just who would cops talk to about the possible criminal past of this guy? So NO security check worthy of the name!)
Artan started college that fall and graduated with honours from Columbus State Community College last May, earning an associate of arts degree. A video of his graduation ceremony shows him jumping and spinning on stage and smiling broadly, drawing laughs, cheers and smiles from graduates and faculty members.
Classes for the 60,000 students at Ohio State, where Artan began taking classes this fall, were cancelled after the attack but resumed Tuesday. The school planned a vigil for Tuesday night.
Students said they were nervous about returning and planned to take precautions such as not walking alone.
“It’s kind of nerve-wracking going back to class right after it,” said Kaitlin Conner, 18, of Cleveland, who said she had a midterm exam to take.
Ohio State’s student newspaper, The Lantern, ran an interview in August with an Artan in which he criticized the media’s portrayal of Muslims and expressed concern about how he would be received on campus.
“I was kind of scared with everything going on in the media. I’m a Muslim, it’s not what media portrays me to be,” he told the newspaper. “If people look at me, a Muslim praying, I don’t know what they’re going to think, what’s going to happen. But I don’t blame them. It’s the media that put that picture in their heads.”

Rep. Adam Schiff of California, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said the act bore the hallmarks of an attack carried out by someone who may have been self-radicalized.
In recent months, federal law enforcement officials have raised concerns about online extremist propaganda that encourages car or knife attacks, which are easier to pull off than bombings. The Islamic State group has urged sympathizers online to carry out lone-wolf attacks in their home countries with whatever weapons are available.
Artan was not known to the FBI before Monday’s attack, according to a law enforcement official who was not authorized to discuss the investigation and spoke on condition of anonymity.

Neighbours said he was always polite and attended daily prayers at a mosque on the city’s west side.
Leaders of Muslim organizations and mosques in the Columbus area condemned the attacks while cautioning people against jumping to conclusions or blaming a religion or an ethnic group.

Surveillance photos showed Artan in the car by himself just before the attack, but investigators are looking into whether anyone else was involved, police said.
