Seems like a fair comment to me: "I get beat up because of some people's beliefs, having hurt nobody, so I complain about those beliefs. But when I complain about those beliefs that caused me to get beat up, people think I am being disrespectful?"

Sounds to me like buddy might have had more respect for those pansy-asses had they berated and attacked him. I suppose that he ought to be careful for what he wishes for.

Talk about a self-fulfilling prophecy.

This douche is a special-interest political troll with his own special agenda. Any opportunity to spout his brain-farttery is salivated over I'm sure.

Mind you, if your ideas were valid, sound and such, there would be little reason to try and tear down someone else's belief to help bolster your own.

I'm trying to figure out how his pointing out the fact that Christians eat shellfish, pig and other assorted stuff from Leviticus, is somehow mean and verboten.

It is quite simple gerryh:

I have went through the rite of confirmation, and so the Holy See includes my name on the list of 1 billion Catholics worldwide.

However, my personal beliefs make me an atheist.

Because of the way the Catholic church counts catholics, I am a Catholic atheist.

You on the other hand, don't seem to know very much about the Catholic church, or what makes a person a bigot.

I believe offense was taken from adding the bullshyte comment in front of it.

You're right, I don't have a clue. Carry on.

That's generally the way that it works. Savage is the epitome of a cowardly bully. He is comfortable in the knowledge that there is only a very small contingent of fundie Christians that would attack his lifestyle as vehemently. His strategy is to prey on the non-threatening Christians and punish them to bolster his own shaky confidence.

If Savage were so strong in his stance, I'm a little curious why he isn't traveling to Iran, Saudi or Afghanistan and calling-out those pansy asses... He's a big man that has strong principals - how about he goes and slugs it out with a real bully instead of some high school kids that showed up to support him and got abused for the terrible crime of being a Christian.

OK, albeit a harsh term for the entire book, to some. Don't you consider Leviticus to be pretty much bullsh!t?

I think even most Christians would agree that the idea that a woman must be separated from society when menstruating is bull. I think most Christians would agree that the idea that slavery is ok is bull. I think that most Christians would agree that forbidding clothing made of multiple fabrics is bull. If you voiced these opinions in private, they would likely ridicule you.

They just get their knickers in a knot when you point out that these ideas are espoused in the bible.

The only way for a gay person who speaks out against gay bashing to not be a hypocrite is to go to a country where he would be executed for being gay? That would be sheer idiocy.

It is not because there are bigger problems in the world that people should not work to solve small problems. The treatment of gay people in the US is not a small problem either. They are still very far from being equal.

I don't think that's what has Gh annoyed.

I don't think that's what annoys the majority of Christians. Since most don't observe them.

I consider that Leviticus doesn't apply to Christians period as to the fact that Christ brought a NEW covenant and Leviticus was the previous covenant. It's as simple as that. Simpletons like Savage though, sometimes have a hard time understanding something that doesn't fit their idea's.

Keep in mind, as it's obvious he didn't and many on here don't, that he was talking to kids. Some of those kids were from Christian schools. That in itself shows how much of an idiot he is.

I'm not sure what annoys people about this whole story. We have Savage calling the parts of the bible that say gay people should be killed bull. Well, that is completely true. Killing someone, because they had gay sex? An consensual act between two people that impacts nobody else can never deserve death. The idea is BS.

Calling people pansy-assed when they can't handle you pointing that out? A bit harsh, sure, but when you consider that the speaker is the target of actual violence because of the silly belief he just called BS, it seems quite reasonable.

Bullying? Hardly. Some Christians, especially the ones at Fox, just like to feel victimised.

Oh, I get it now... This isn't about anti-gay messages or treatment per se as much as it is about anti-gay messages from only one selective group. Any non-supportive sentiments towards the gay community from theological, cultural or ideological perspectives other than Christianity is not a form of bullying.

Thanks for the heads-up on that.

I don't think that's what annoys the majority of Christians. Since most don't observe them.

This is the typical strategy of one that has no practical foundation upon which to base an argument... Referencing practices from thousands of years ago and pretending that it's somehow applicable to contemporary issues.

'Pathetic' doesn't even come close to describing it.

It isn't Savage that believes that though. There are plenty of self proclaimed Christians out there that think that what Leviticus says about gay people demands that they mistreat gay people. So long as there are people who claim to be Christian using Leviticus as an excuse, then people speaking out against gay bashing need to deal with it. More than that, if Leviticus doesn't matter to Christianity, then they should just agree that there are some sections of Leviticus that are bull.

As for the fact that he was speaking to an audience of mostly high school students, so what? I do not feel the need to infantilize the intellectual capabilities of someone just because they are in high school.

Not all Christians would agree. You often find them bashing gays quoting Leviticus, or calling for the execution of someone, also quoting Leviticus. Leviticus is still in the Bible. If the Christian Bible was only comprised of the New Testament, well maybe that would make a difference.

If it's all the same, I think I'll back out of this one.

I agree with Savage, to the degree, that there aspects of the Bible that are used to attack and/or justify the physical attack of homosexuality.

While I can empathize with the boards Christians, because I don't see Christianity in general, behaving the way they are painted by Savage.

And if you did most of them would fall asleep. The last thing kids in high school want is to be talked to like they're 5 year olds.

and I often find gays bashing Christians, straights and bisexuals...... Savage being one of them. Your point is what.... that painting everyone with a wide brush is perfectly acceptable?

And if you did most of them would fall asleep. The last thing kids in high school want is to be talked to like they're 5 year olds.

So, instead, we'll just insult them.

I think that is why the convention organizers asked Savage to present in the first place. High school student surely are interested in his frank discussions about sexuality. Unless high school students have much less hormones than when I was in high school.
