The teen who allegedly received sexually explicit messages from disgraced politician Anthony Weiner says she is “upset” with the FBI for not being upfront and telling her in advance that her case is now tied to U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s email scandal.
As first reported by the New York Times, emails were discovered during the investigation into the alleged sexts and were on the private computer of Weiner, 52, and his estranged wife, Huma Abedin - who is a top Clinton aide.
She told
Buzzfeed News that since FBI director James Comey made the announcement about the emails on Friday, she’d been left “confused.”
The teen who was 15 at the time of the alleged sexting scandal, now 16, told Buzzfeed that she’s been brought “back into the media spotlight” without warning and said in an open letter to Comey published by Buzzfeed that she and her family are “barraged by reporters’ phone calls and emails.”
“Anthony Weiner is the abuser,” she wrote in the open letter to Comey. “Your letter [to U.S. Congress] helped that abuse to continue. How can I rebuild my life when you have made finding out my “story” the goal of every reporter?”
The FBI’s national press office didn’t comment to Buzzfeed.
Back in September,
the teen told her story in a sensational interview to the Daily Mail. She told the British paper Weiner allegedly asked the teen to participate in “rape fantasies” among other things.
Despite Weiner's ties to Clinton, the teen and her father told Buzzfeed they are not Donald Trump supporters and the father has already voted for Clinton. The girl added she is a “big fan” of the Clintons and would move to Germany if Trump were elected.
“With the recent developments with my daughter, I can say that I would likely not have voted for either of these clowns if I had it to do over again,” the father told Buzzfeed. “How do you not know who works for you? How could you have so many sleazeballs close to you?”
The teen added, “I was having self-esteem issues when this whole thing started with Anthony Weiner. Now as a result of my frailty, this could take down the United States presidential election. I mean, come on, who’s in charge of America?”
