Bottom line, around here you are going to sell anything to most of us. America has been taken over by religious zealots! HA! you have become your enemy. The joke is on you

may be. but I am not american I am Canadian. The US is not perfect, but perhaps you have touched on a point: this may ultimately be a religious war between christians and muslims. It is in this context that I can understand why Canada is not involved. we are a truly SECULAR society without much regard for religion. In this country, people who are strongly religious are viewed as "extremists". Now I am not religious myself, but it is interesting to note that religious societies historically have a much greater sense of past and future and less faith in the idea of "permanence". That might explain why we stand by and do nothing as our health care, democractic, value and political systems erode before our eyes; because secular societies tend to think that the "here and now" will always persist. If we are that type of society, incapable of recognizing sea change, then we are doomed to erosion much like what we are witnessing with the European community as we speak...

Our little self important government is pissing off our best protector

You see, that comment is so ridiculously American, I actually hear the the American national Anthem (which doesn't derserve it's name mentioned) as I type this.

That is the American way. Scare the shit out of everyone untill you get your way. Encourage complete obedience and conformity, or inflict excessive punishment.

And you wonder why the Arab world has so much fear? HA

You didn't read the article (obviously). The US basically offered to protect us as part of the missle defense system, for NOTHING. No money, no participation, nothing. And we said "NO". As a MATTER OF PRINCIPLE? WHAT PRINCIPLE? They said: "We are doing this, do you want a say?" and we said "No, we don't want a say" It is pure silliness.

Well maybe your daddy is bill o'rielly. Don't be preaching to us about the world trade centre, canadians died in that building to, along with alot of other people from other countries, instead of going after the people responsible, you invaded Iraq, so george bush and his comb licking cronies could steal the natural resources of another country. Iraq did not bomb the world trade centre George bush has done nothing but dis-respect the people that died in the world trade centre. Bet he gets a good pension in the end tho

Yeah, you're right. I concede. We havn't arrested ANYONE from Al Qaeda, they are certainly NOT weakened, Two corrupt dictators have not been toppled, Bin Laden is NOT on the run or hiding in some cave. Certainly Syria has NOT pulled out of Lebanon after 20 year of occupation, the Libyans have NOT relinguished any WMD programs that they had, Egypt and Saudi Arabi haven't given women the right to Vote and generally the free world is much WORSE off knowing that democracy is spreading into the most barbaric parts of the globe...sucks to be us we should have gone with the Canadian approch: curl up in the fetal position under the kitchen sink.

The USA doesn't have an "approach", it is a free country.

The U.S.A. is balancing on the botterline of becomming a complete dictatorship.

DICTATORSHIP? hA! you are writing from Canada right? Isn't it Canadians who always critcize the US for not knowing anything about their neighbours? so much for that. You know we have been ruled by the same person in this country for over a decade right?

hiding in a cave, well its no wonder you only win battles in the air..not much competition there eh? As usual you alway under estimate your so called enemies. ...oh but wait, why would you really go after bin laden...his family does business with the bush family. What a joke! Its almost as lame as you taunting us like the school yard bully, about our courage. Blah! how silly can you be. No one knows if they have courage or not...that only happens when the test comes. Just like you sitting there typing...not much courage there....pretty easy actually...just like what were doing. See ya in the foxhole

This is getting ridiculous. You all sound like that cartoon where the little yappy dog keeps following around the big bulldog barking out every little suggestion that comes to mind.

The bottom line is, you can all have the luxury to be critical of the entity which provides you with the freedom to be criitical in the first place. It's annoying. Canadians (and I am one) are down right ungrateful little whiners.

The US is the richest, most succesful, most powerful, free-est, most democratic society in the world and having been born and raised in Canada it gets really irritating listening to all the sour grapes all day long.

"We are not Americans...we don't do this like americans, we don't do that like americans...america sucks...blah blah blah"...fine

Well WHAT ARE YOU then? I know what we are NOT in Canada, but get some backbone and some self image already people. All you do all day long in this country is sit back in your comfy little nanny-state, expect the government to do everything for you and criticize the country that protects your snivelling little asses!!

Actually Al Qaeda is stronger now....

And we're ASSUMING Bin Laden is hiding in a cave and on the run. The US doesn't know where he is. The fact that he hasn't been turned in now speaks volumes.

Matty, I'd like to take the opportunity now to welcome you to the board...

Now what the hell is the matter with you?

You are portraying the US' illegal invasion of a sovereign nation as some kind of idealistic crusade...if that were true, why did the US not present that to the UN General Assembly instead of trumping up some crap about WMD...You've read the Downing Street Memo right? You know that both Bush and Blair were conniving to go into Iraq even though they were warned that the evidence was flimsy...what reason would they have had for being so purposefully deceptive, do you think?

I suppose too that you are an apologist for the tortures committed at the hands of the US interrogators, and prison guards...you sure as hell talk like you're one...

Canada did not enter the Coalition because the evidence was just not there...Canada still respects the authority of the United Nations...Canada went into Afghanistan, because that is where the Global War on Terror, which we agreed to assist the US in fighting, had taken us...

What precisely is the US protecting us from?
