The "Do SOMETHING to Calm People Down" Argument Just Failed

Tags: One of the biggest - if unspoken - reasons for proposing the bailout is that quickly doing something big will reassure investors and the public.
That argument has just failed (even with the PPT's best efforts).
As of this writing (1:30 East Coast Time), the stock market, Nasdaq, S&P, oil and gold are all getting hammered. Everything being down at the same time means that investors are panicking, and pulling money out of the markets. Shocking Claus divorce revelations at proceedings cloud issue.

Checking out CNN/MSNBC......Does not look good!

I don't think he has ever 'dealt' directly with much of anything, and while his 'henchmen'
are making his decisions for him, he tries to keep up but can't, and all you hear from
him is "what", "huh", "I don't get it", "howdy", "fart".
Bush can't even talk, let alone think or deal with anything. He has to be the stupidest president the yankees ever elected, and then re-elected...

Anyone got any clear answers?Cause I got some questions!

So Oil jobs are boomin from one shore to the other...Just can't find enough people to fill the jobs!...It does stimulate our economy!

Why is this?...What happens if Canadians can't meet the demand for labour, or simply don't want to work in the oil field?

What are the options?

When U.S leaders say we need to be less reliant on foreign oil..Where do they plan on getting it??

If there wasn't an election going on in the U.S...Would there be a Crisis?...I see a pattern forming..Anyone else?

These are questions that need to be answered before we can move forward!...

My ears and mind are open 2 anyone with a positive answer that differs from mine!

There are options and alternatives..I know I keep saying that ...But are you aware of them ?

The manufacturing sector in Quebec and Ontario is suffering do to the demand for something new!

How do we move forward on this issue?

Mr.Harper ..I M...Confused (not impossible to do..I know..lol).....Did You say Our economy is in good shape, or do you forsee a downturn?

Bet you would avoid an answer!

I ask these questions because I want the PEOPLE 2 educate THEMSELVES on these issues...I CHALLENGE YOU TO DEBATE!

If you don't care then it might already be too late!

The time to plan 4 the future is now!....Know your options!.....Set your goals !....We will all breath a little easier for it...Let's move confidently into the future...Conscience clean!..
.
There is no need to be afraid. ..Don't give into a culture of fear and greed!..

Instead of Bracing for the future like some will advise......Embrace the future for what it has to offer!...

2 me ..It is the only way 2 get there from here!
.................................................. .......................
Thank you for this space and your time!.....
Over and out there from here.

Does anyone know where all the money went from the stock markets falling?

I figure the new treasury bills for the bailout account for half the money. I don't see anything going up - are people stuffing their mattresses?

It's all over but the revolution/civil war, after congress rescues the banks there will be a convienient attack of something by somebody and somebody else will declare a state of emergency and when the smoke clears the whole continent will be one big happy secure prosperous partnership ruled like Mexicans fed like Mexicans and paid like Mexicans in Ameros.
Canadians will go down the tubes same as the oil water and gas. A very profitable war could be fought to liberate America. The bankers like war, they know it pays. And where are you going to find unemployed young people by the hundreds of thousands? Where aren't you? We have some very bad rich people on this planet.

Sadly, this scenario, even in this day and age is not out of the question.
This is not a full medical dressing just a band-aid.
All markets down.
Pork in what should be called `A Small Start to Recovery` was added to pass this thing.
Global economy/economists not buying!

John Reynolds ends his latest Observer commentary on the ethical implications of the current economic disaster with the following words:
Above all we need more individuals to make a stand. The Archbishops of Canterbury and York should go further and call for more Christians to work in the city.
– John Reynolds, chief executive of Reynolds Partners, and chairman of the Ethical Investment Advisory Group, The Observer 28 September 2008).
One may wonder what Reynolds refers to when calling for more ‘Christians to work in the City’. I tend to believe that more than just a few people out there do understand …

That guy is looney, he turns basic human truths and turns them into some ideological bloodsport.

His view that the US is evil for not wanting another Soviet Union to emerge makes me believe he either isn't old enough to remember them, or has never met anyone who lived under them.

Doesn't this sound like something stinky out of Nigeria???

SUBJECT: REQUEST FOR URGENT BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP

DEAR AMERICAN:

I NEED TO ASK YOU TO SUPPORT AN URGENT SECRET BUSINESS RELATIONSHIP WITH A TRANSFER OF FUNDS OF GREAT MAGNITUDE.
I AM MINISTRY OF THE TREASURY OF THE REPUBLIC OF AMERICA. MY COUNTRY HAS HAD CRISIS THAT HAS CAUSED THE NEED FOR LARGE TRANSFER OF FUNDS OF 800 BILLION DOLLARS US. IF YOU WOULD ASSIST ME IN THIS TRANSFER, IT WOULD BE MOST PROFITABLE TO YOU.
I AM WORKING WITH MR. PHIL GRAM, LOBBYIST FOR UBS, WHO WILL BE MY REPLACEMENT AS MINISTRY OF THE TREASURY IN JANUARY. AS A SENATOR, YOU MAY KNOW HIM AS THE LEADER OF THE AMERICAN BANKING DEREGULATION MOVEMENT IN THE 1990S. THIS TRANSACTIN IS 100% SAFE.
THIS IS A MATTER OF GREAT URGENCY. WE NEED A BLANK CHECK. WE NEED THE FUNDS AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. WE CANNOT DIRECTLY TRANSFER THESE FUNDS IN THE NAMES OF OUR CLOSE FRIENDS BECAUSE WE ARE CONSTANTLY UNDER SURVEILLANCE. MY FAMILY LAWYER ADVISED ME THAT I SHOULD LOOK FOR A RELIABLE AND TRUSTWORTHY PERSON WHO WILL ACT AS A NEXT OF KIN SO THE FUNDS CAN BE TRANSFERRED.

Once the dust clears wealth is going to have to be redistributed (again). Anyone know how to tie a noose? Or maybe we should return to the tried and true guillotine?

The "Rescue" Bill developed and adopted by the Senate and now voted upon and also approved by the House is a "Sell Out", not a "Bail Out!" The new 450+ page bill is more convoluted and gives more breaks or amnesties that anything else in the history of the US. I think they took a quantum leap into the Third World group of countries of the world. Time will tell but if there are any profits they will be gobbled up by those who prospered from this legislation, not the common person.
