Who cares what the reason is for. They aren't Americans, don't care. Our laws don't apply. Its there country they can burn what they want.

Canadians were burning the US Flag?

People all over the world burn your flag because of your political policies. You olympic hockey team walked on ours to get charged up for a hockey game. See the difference there?

What garbage... Your hockey team vomitted and used ours for toilet paper so there.

Boy... I truly wonder about you. I really do.

I have yet to hear the Canadian Natl Anthem booed at an event here. It is common to hear that in every Candadian forum.

RE: Americans burning Ame

Our team did no such thing, Eaglesmack. Your anthem gets booed because people are sick and tired of what your country does around the world.

Intention isn't something easily deciphered. When a group or an individual burns a flag, it shouldn't be assumed that one knows their reasoning.

My best guess would be that they are displeased with current American policy, and not that they must hate freedom or democracy or anything like that. Maybe they just hate what the American flag has come to represent; the world over it's viewed as a sign of oppresion and arrogance, and as such it makes a brilliant edifice.

Could be the same mentality behind burning money, which I think is also technically illegal; some despise what money has come to represent.

I'd be surprised if anyone who's booed an anthem would be able to find the world on a map of the world, let alone have a clue what America does arount it.

I wouldn't be surprised that they know exactly why they are booing, Facts. The US isn't exactly loved around the world. There's a reason for that.

I remember the first year the Jays took the penant, in '92, the Marine Corps colour guard flew the Canadian flag upside down...now some flags are difficult to tell which way is up or down, but not the maple leaf...so it was either stupidity, or intentional...

So, do I think it was intentional? Why yes I do...

They boo because they are ignorant and hate America and Americans... not just GW. Plenty of liberals and anti-war demonstrators fly the flag proudly... the Canadians booed them as well.

Okay lets see if I got this right, its not okay to burn a flag, but its okay to bomb people. Americans have burned their own flag, canadians have burned their flag. This is nothing new...monkeys do it all the time, beat their chest, and pound the ground with a stick.

That is what my first posting on this stated. It is nothing new.

I don't think that the Rev will like being called a monkey though by you. He just burned a virtual flag for fun.

I know you did not directly call him a monkey, nor would you ever. I just find the timing sort of ironic.

That virtual burning thing is stupid, but burning a flag is the proper way to dispose of it. I guess it all depends on the intent and how. Virtual or not, burning flags in anger is not right.

Dignity of the Flag

The National Flag of Canada should be displayed only in a manner befitting this important national symbol; it should not be subjected to indignity or displayed in a position inferior to any other flag or ensign. The National Flag always takes precedence over all other national flags when flown in Canada.

Disposal of Flags

When a flag becomes tattered and is no longer in a suitable condition for use, it should be destroyed in a dignified way by burning it privately.

Not a doctor (couldn't stomach another 4 years to get the Ph.D.), and not evil. Science is based on fact and logic, I don't mean to end discussions, but facts are facts and logic is logic. We scientist are kind of like Vulcans. :)
