Was the Soviet Union truly a "Western" culture?

How about the Ottomans during WWI? They weren't just victims and it is a real stretch to see them as even a teensy bit Western.

Nothing Western about the Soviet Union.

As for the Japanese, many argue that World War II started in the 1930s when the Japs raped, pillaged and murdered their way through Manchuria.

Most non-Europeans, like this fellow, treat the subject of Nazis not very seriously indeed. To non-Europeans, the Nazis were a long way away. It'd be different had America, for example, been under Nazi rule or had the Nazis just 20 miles away from their border - like we British.

If not for a handful of brave Canucks that traveled over to Europe to pull your fat out of the fire, I expect that you'd be speaking with a heavy German accent.

.... You're welcome
