If the States busts up, could we have Hawaii and Alaska (sans - Geezus I forgot her name)?

Sarah Palin. We'll let her have her own little space on Priblof Islands (she could hunt seal lions). She can even call it Palinington.

I'd also put in a request for Oregon and Washington State

Put in a request for Idaho too. I like their spuds.

Hey, I just thought of something. Washington and Oregon already belong to us; it was Britain who bargained them away! Definitely get them back!

Maybe we can drop the Idaho claim in exchange for Oregon. Once we have Oregon, geography Washington becoming part of Canada would just be a natural progression

We'd even throw in a '24 of "real" beer to seal the deal

Sorry, I don’t’ want any of the USA states in Canada, they are all too conservative for Canada, and they will pull the country sharply to the right.

Even states like New York, California, Washington or Oregon are too conservative for Canada. Massachusetts may be OK, they can join Canada. Also Vermont would be good. It is a tiny state and it would be just like another Maritime province. Oh, and of course, Hawaii.

But as to the rest of them, Americans can keep them.

What about Mexico's claim to the former territories of New Spain? Does NAFTA cover it.?

There are idiots everywhere who wish we would break up, but our National Pride runs deeper than most people in other countries are capable of understanding. As was noted, we fought a civil war over states rights, we are not New Yorkers, Georgians or Californians, we are Americans first.

No worries, Cali is pretty liberal. The tectonic plate it is on is rotating in this direction and eventually Cali will be off the shores of BC. For that matter eventually it'll be up around the Aleutians. lol

I wouldn't want to cut your ego down, but if it came to separation, it would be Canadian Provinces wanting to join the United States. This economic crisis will end, it is just how long can countries and their people hold out.

Alaska - Some Canadians and Alaskans have discussed the possibility of the state of Alaska seceding from the United States and joining Canada under an autonomy plan allowing for a U.S. sphere of influence. The issue has been discussed on various fora, such as that for the Alaska Independence Party forum, which claims Alaska as the "lost province".
Vermont - Some supporters of the Vermont independence movement propose that Vermont join Canada as a province.
Maine - Some propose that Maine secede from the U.S. and join Canada as a province, though this movement is much smaller than the "Vermont annexation movement".
New England - Certain members of the Maine and Vermont secession movements back all of New England seceding and joining Canada
That being what it is, we will have to export Sarah Palin back to the US.
