Indeed. Psychiatry is a fascinating subject. My son is debating at present whether to opt for psychiatry or Internal Medicine. From what he tells me, Psychiatry seems to be rather simple endeavor. All you have to do is to listen to peoples' problems. There is not a whole lot you can do about them.

But he may decide for Internal Medicine.

Has he considered the field of Naturopathic medicine? It seems to be emerging as a huge growth field with all kinds of opportunities.

Naturopathic medicine? That doesn't sound like something that will be covered by OHIP.

I''m not sure...there is/was talk of it being covered in BC but I can't say if that happened. My brother is a big believer in it and it's amazing some of the testing they do, especially in blood work. Very thorough.

I'm looking for a good naturepath. The MDs around here couldn't find a cause if it was stamped on their foreheads.

Which means you'd be able to make a good living at it.
And, you'd be able to sell the naturopathic medicines that you prescribe.

Sounds like a good plan.

I am not sure one needs to be a doctor to practice it. If it is not recognized by the Canadian Medical association, presumably anybody could practice it.

Oh, they will cooperate if they want to. It is just that they haven't wanted to for a long time now, that is why the system is broken.

So? What does that tell you? It tells me that there just hasn't been a good enough reason (good being what is good for the establishment, not the people). There's no indication that the system is broken as far as the needs of the establishment are concerned.

Also just like in Canada and most other states, legislation is the final outcome of negotiations that take place behind closed doors far away from public scrutiny. The shows reps put on are secondary in importance (just look at our Parliament, they could sell tickets).

Majority of Americans may not like the political BS, but they don't have a choice, they are stuck with it.

They do (sort of) but it's not a viable one. The very topic of this thread keeps alternatives out of office simply by the fact that were they to be voted in, they wouldn't be able to get anything done.

I have no idea how good the now dead health care reform was. All I know is that Democrats were trying to do something about health care, Republicans were adamantly opposed to any change to the current system, Republicans like the current system just fine.

Don't let that fool you, things like health care are always on the table for all administrations (regardless of party). The partisan show just clouds this over. If it ain't happening the reasons have nothing to do with big bad republicans not wanting the poor black dem pres to do good. There are factors that don't make it into the news; it's usually different sectors fighting for the same turf. It will come up again just because it has to.

Oh, I certainly have a rep among conservative, far right Republicans in this forum, among the Palin acolytes and I am proud of it.

Any time I cannot make a right winger apoplectic, I cannot start him foaming at the mouth, that is the time I will quit participating here.

lol Hey whatever does it for ya man! I'm kidding about the rep of course. You do ramble sometimes as many of us do but I haven't seen you saying particularly inflammatory things. Also haven't seen any far right around these parts--take people's comments with a grain of salt. (The real far right make the conservatives you see around here seem like a bunch of bleeding-heart altruistic socialists by comparison.)

Btw I'm no Palin acolyte but I will say this: if she ever decides to change careers from politics to adult film, I'll be a happy guy. :p

You know that you're part of the 95% in the middle when YJ thinks you're a stupid Liberal and SJP thinks you're a stupid Conservative.

:laughing7: Quote of the day.

ROFL - gotta love this forum: the thread went from the fall of America to naturopaths in Canada. lol Priceless.

When I lived in USA, the political atmosphere was much different than it is now; it was nowhere near as partisan. There was no ‘hate’ radio, there was no 24 hour cable news, there were no internet blogs. I think all these factors contribute to the increased partisanship, increased bitterness that characterizes US political atmosphere today.

And people will settle the issue? How? What can people do? I assume you mean that next time they will vote Republican. They very well may, but what happens when Republicans also cannot get anything accomplished (as happened during Bush years)? People will vote the Democrats back in, Republicans will block everything they want to do and the whole madness will continue.

The system is broken.

Exactly what is "hate radio" We have always had left wing and right wing radio stations taking stands on this or that. What will people do, they will of course do what ever they want. Don't know how to explain it any better, but we do not want a health plan as the democrats demanded we accept. No one is saying our health plan is perfect, but other than cost it is. We all want the same or better, but without cuts and mandated penalties.

It happened to the Romans and the Turks and the British and the Russians and now the Americans where money runs out from within because the people in power lost their incentive to lead because they are too busy trying to save their own country.

The military machine just cost too much to run so power of world domination just transfers to different countries that have wealth and the incentive to lead and the cycle just repeats itself.
