Well said. I completely agree.

As I was trying to point out in another thread a few days ago (before it got derailed) about 'rewarding criminals who's victims were fortunate enough not to die, doing enough damage, purposefully through action or inaction to kill someone, should be the deciding factor in the charges. Not whether or not they actually succumb to their injuries.

Exactly. I recall a case (I believe it happened in Ontario) where a thug beat a man so severely the man is almost a complete vegetable. He will never walk again, and has limited physical capabilities. The thug should be treated as if he murdered the man, as the man that he beat is merely a shell of the man he used to be.:(

With regards to the OP, this part sticks out to me particularly.......> "The parents argued the judge should leave it up to them and they cannot consent to withdrawing life support due to religious convictions and love for their daughter."

Love for your daughter? **** YOU! If you had truly loved your daughter, you would NEVER have done something so despicable, so heinous, as what you did to that poor little girl.:(

There is absolutely no logical reason why the sentencing should be any less for attempted murder than it is for murder. It makes no sense as a deterrent factor, it amounts to rewarding a 'murderer' for being unsuccessful. The original thread/news story I tried to make this point in was a man who beat his wife severely for three hours breaking every bone in her face, then raped her in a pool of her own blood, then tried to shove a comforter down her throat when the police were at the door. He got ten years. That's a complete joke.

That's why I don't buy any of it. It's nothing more than a defense attorney's tactics to get his clients to trial before the child dies to avoid murder charges.

Just heard on the news that girl is now resting in peace. It just doesn't get any sadder than that!

I meant to die knowing you weren't loved.

While her "parents" certainly did not show any true love, she was loved by someone. Her sister. As sad as it was for the girl to pass on, I feel really sad for her surviving sister. I hope that she is at least able to find a family that will love her properly in the future, so that there can be any semblance of a happy ending to this whole horrible story.:(
