some people don't know how to have a civilized argument. It's "I'm right and you're stupid."
That’s an ad hominem response, right?

RIght, attacking the person rather than the argument. There's a lot of that goes on here. That’s an ad hominem response, right?
Hard to say. Perhaps a more thorough examination of the data showed that deaths originally attributed to Covid-19 were in fact more accurately characterized as due to something else, like some underlying condition that made the virus infection worse but not the primary cause of death. Got a link for that? I haven't seen that reported anywhere, and a quick search on terms like "cdc covid mortality" turns up reports saying that the claim is false. The CDC has significantly reduced the published mortality rate for Covid-19 recently. What does that indicate?
I couldn't have said it better.I think the question is who, not what, and I'm sure that's a long list. A lot of people use the anonymity of places like this to be far more rude and offensive than they'd be in real life, though there's at least one poster I've seem claim to be exactly as rude and offensive in real life as here, and seems proud of it. That eludes my understanding, but some people aren't nice, some people can't deal with being challenged, some people don't believe they could be wrong, and some people don't know how to have a civilized argument. It's "I'm right and you're stupid."

Edited to add: Snopes also says it's not true. https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/cdc-death-figures/
Oh I'd bet you could if you worked on it a bit...I couldn't have said it better.
The Snopes page explains it. It's data collected from different sources at different times with varying degrees of time lag. As Snopes remarks, it's like comparing stock prices from a two week old newspaper with today's prices as reported by a cable news outlet, and concluding there's some sort of conspiracy going on that explains the mismatch.
I doubt it, they're not beholden to any of them. Those aren't really what anyone would call "associations," it's just a list of stories that various media outlets have provided on Snopes, which implies nothing about any association among them. And "liberal-leaning media?" I noted Reader's Digest, Christian Science Monitor, Popular Mechanics, and CNN on the list there, hardly what anyone would call liberal-leaning. I think you're just looking for some reason, any reason, to dismiss Snopes as a reliable source.I visited the Snopes site today and looked around. The associations with liberal-leaning media are many.

I wonder if this influences the findings.

The CDC has significantly reduced the published mortality rate for Covid-19 recently. What does that indicate?
I think it indicates that a Higher Authority has spoken.
No, it's that people don't understand how and what the CDC reports.
