All Canadian Sea King helicopters have been grounded pending an investigation into an incident late Monday night at a Canadian Forces Base near Halifax, the Department of National Defence has announced.

A Sea King helicopter struck the tarmac with its main rotors just before midnight Monday during a landing at CFB Halifax in Eastern Passage, N.S., after a training flight.
DND confirmed that the helicopter experienced a “flight safety occurrence.”

Quite a few years ago, someone said the then aging Sea Kings, were a bunch of spare parts flying in formation. The Sea King situation is absolutely shameful. It's not as if nobody is willing to sell us new helicopters, the problem is getting our governments to get off their collective asses and order the damn things. This could have been done any time over the last twenty five years.

Still, we see our great leader shuffling seats, smiling and glad-handing. Your skeleton will soon be complete.

I truly believe the man's psychopathic.

Why is Canada using Sea Kings instead of Blackhawks? Sea Kings are antiquated aren't they?

The original purchase of the EH 101 was cancelled by the Liberals in 93- it was an election promise that cost 3/4 of a Billion.
Then the screwed the Military with massive cuts.
The Cons went out for a purchase. I think Sikorsky got that. More delay, Sikorsky cannot meet the deadlines. Penalties were waived. Now DND will not accept any choppers as they cannot meet the later deadlines along with other problems.
So it may go out yet again for tender.

My granddaughter, aged 6 will be voting in the same election that the RCN receives the new choppers.
