the referendum should never have been allowed.

Why not? There's not a more direct democracy than having referendums. People simply don't like the idea that adults can decide for themselves. They prefer to rely on governments & do government's bidding instead of relying on themselves. That's the problem with people now-a-days & THIS government in particular, is counting on it. The more you rely on government, the more control they have over you. That's what the referendum was all about. I'm sad that the results didn't come to what I was hoping for, but I also accept that there are people who simply don't care or even understand what Ottawa is attempting to do. So, we live with the results & hope for a better future; one that actually considers the citizens that the representatives actually work for. I'm skeptical, but one never knows....
