What there needs to be is formula whereby all the taxes Albertan's pay to Alberta over their working lives are transferred to whatever province they retire in.

Alberta is running a scam

What's funny is Kenney is one the people who worked on the changes to transfer payments that he's complaining about.

You didn't read the article.
The UCP talk about killing equalization payments but you need the approval from 2 main provinces, Ontario or Quebec.
Seems the only way to get out of equalization to to leave Canada, join the USA
Are you sure that joining the USA is going to get you out of sending your money elsewhere? They're even more indebted than we are.

A quick glance at the equalization map shows Ottawa stealing money from the west and giving it to the east. ANd this doesn't even count all the out of province paycheques that flow from Alberta jobs.

The patterns change over time. Saskatchewan and Newfoundland used to be dirt poor ... Newfoundland was a basket case when the joined Confederation and the Great Depression left Saskatchewan as a smoking hole. Both places pay in more than they withdraw, right now. Alberta must be getting damned close to "have not" at the moment, too. The message in that bottle is don't bet everything on producing one product.

I'm not sure if Alberta beef even reaches this market. Besides, Ontario is a major beef producer, too. That's the choice, eh. Oil or cows? Albert u a is galloping into the "have not" column for the short term, anyway.
