unless you think the beaver is ... um... imperalist. No I don't consider Canada to be imperalist or even the UK currently, but the symbolism from imperalists days are still there, such as the lion and the union jack, which jay represents nicely I may add.

Anyhow funny enough I couldnt remember Frances symbol. Was it a dragon?

Didnt Napoleon use the Imperial Eagle? Although now I think it is just a picture of The Dixie Chics...

he may have and I think you are right with the Roman symbolish the French republic and later the facade of the republic during the mpire used. but I think the French monarchist imperalist symbol was something else. It's completely slipping my mind

I think the violance will slow down in Iraq and I hope.

They all need money to carry out insurgency. For now they don't have a leader, they will be short of supply of money.

By the time they have new leader, most of their members may already get captured or given up.

I hope you are right but at the same time I think something in the American policy will need to change first. Of course then again I think it might be a coin flip either way. perhaps there is no solution to save Iraq. I'm growing doubtful. However... I hope this is a good sign as he was a big problem in the peace process.

So the Lion is now an imperialist symbol?

I thought the Lion was a symbol of the UK.

No the lion is the laziest animal on earth.

Don't beleive it?

I saw it on discovery channel.

Because the lion sleeps a good majority of the day does not make it lazy. They sleep because it is in their instincts. They sleep to conserve energy and digest the tons of collective of buffallo, zebra, wilderbeast meat in their stomachs.

I do watch the Disc Channel and all of the others channels like that. I've also seen lions take out elephants... kick the snot out of a pack of hyenas etc.

Go kick a sleeping lion and see how lazy he is.

naaa it says the chicken was the sysmbol of the french revolution/republic... So ummm (which still makes little sence). For some reason "dragon" screams out at me but then again I think that just might be the coat of arms or something. Or... the old monarchist flag if I remember things right. (been awake for 20 hours now).

The only other symbol I am aware of is the Napoleonic Imperial Eagle.

which is the Roman eagle and is a symbol of the French Republic and Empire which was a rip off of the Roman EMpire and republic... The Republicans and the facade of the Republic after Nap didn't use monarchist symbols. =-( damn... now I'm not going to get any sleep trying to remember.... maybe France never had an animal like the other nations.. ok I'm going with that! ..

but....

I know they did...

I didn't realize there were lions in Britain.

Guess they had to adopt a fierce animal from elsewhere.

After all, a hedgehog isn't that scary.

Look at this french symbol. ok I know the Americans use it too, it's the Roman Faces, used as a Republican symbol of authority in the old Roman Republic.

In the 20th centrury however it has become known as a fascist symbol. Anyhow another use of symbolism which confues some people who are narrow minded.

I saw it on discovery channel.

The male lion lounges around all day in the sun whilst the females are out doing all the work. And when the females are done doing the kill, the males saunter on over and chow down first.

Sounds pretty good to me!

They might have decided to call it laziest animal because he sleeps a lot. And because the female lions who hunt, and lion goes and eats and sleeps again.

But of course the lion is the symbol of king in nature. He protects it's own borders. Other animals scare to aproach female lions because of presence of lion.

But because he sleeps a lot, he is giving the title the laziest animal on earth.
