Live on CBC TV the AG just delivered a rather scathing report on this that and the other. Phoenix will take $500 million and 2 years to fix. He is doing a Q and A right now - says its too late to just scrap it. Nobody wants to work there. 150,000 just waiting to put in their request.

Thank you Mr Harper - I can see why you brought this in and why you were giving out awards for it.

Jackass.

Really, what can you expect when you hand the contract to IBM.

They did great with the nazis and the jews
Funny Israel hasn't nuked them yet for their roll in the holocaust

why is that?

IBM and the Holocaust: The Strategic Alliance between Nazi Germany and America's Most Powerful Corporation is a book by investigative journalist Edwin Black which details the business dealings of the American-based multinational corporation International Business Machines (IBM) and its German and other European subsidiaries with the government of Adolf Hitler during the 1930s and the years of World War II.

In the book, published in 2001, Black outlined the way in which IBM's technology helped facilitate Nazi genocide through generation and tabulation of punch cards based upon national census data

They are still trying to get THAT math correct

It was Harper.

As the Ag said, when asked, they can't simply scrap the Phoenix system and use the old one because a thousand workers were let go when they brought in the new system.

Oh yes, those 1,000 workers were Union, the Conservatives great nemesis.

Now keep paying your taxes to fix this system in 10 years.........

Government officials told CBC Friday Phoenix experienced "processing challenges" for the Dec. 27 pay

The statement said those issues were resolved the weekend of Dec. 16.

Some federal employees have been told to prepare for a major post-Christmas letdown: paycheques that are wildly incorrect and potentially void of any funds whatsoever.

Managers in the public service informed their teams by email this week that the problem-plagued Phoenix pay system was experiencing new issues, and their final paycheques of 2017 could have glaring errors.

Those December pay stubs have already been put online, several days earlier than usual.

One worker official sent her stub to Radio-Canada. It indicated she would receive zero dollars on Dec. 27.

He also said the union had a loan mechanism in place — in addition to the government's own financial assistance programs — but worried workers could have trouble accessing it over the holidays.

"[We're] getting close to Christmas time, getting close to two years living through the problem with Phoenix," Aubry said.

"The government should have more resources, should have found ways to resolve the situation."

In an email, senior officials reminded federal employees that they can apply for an emergency pay advance "in the event of a $0 pay situation."

New Phoenix pay issue could mean $0 paycheques for Christmas - Ottawa - CBC News

The Liberals really made a mess of Phoenix.

What was do wrong about the old pay disbursement system that required it to be totally dismantled and replaced with this monstrosity? The problem is neither Liberal nor Conservative. It's with a bungling, incompetent senior civil service.

It has gotten worse.

The trouble is that the federal government bought into the Phoenix system, and come hell or high water, they will stick with it, despite others not being paid.

Can you imagine checking with another government or corporation and asking them what software they are using? No, I can't either...

OTTAWA – After the Conflict of Interest Commissioner found him to be in violation of ethics rules for his vacation to Aga Khan’s private island, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be punished by transferring his salary to the government’s problem-plagued Phoenix pay system.
“We’ve found that Mr. Trudeau ignored rules as related to the Code of Ethics and he will therefore be treated like an actual public servant,” announced Commissioner Mary Dawson. “He will now join the hundreds of thousands of civil servants waiting for their pay and benefits-related problems to be resolved.”
First, the Prime Minister will stop receiving his salary with no explanation. Next, he will be required to call into the pay system’s Miramichi office where he will be on hold for hours until someone hangs up on him. After a few weeks of calling, he will finally get speak with someone who will then tell him the wrong information.
“When he finally sees some money in his bank account about a year later, it will not be the proper amount, requiring him to repeat the process,” Dawson explained. “He will also need to pay the taxes on any overpayment he receives.”
“I’m sorry,” a remorseful Trudeau said at a press conference. “I wish I was just fined the $200 like Bill [Morneau]. This is a harsh punishment, but at least my family can get by.”
Trudeau went on to explain that his family is financially secure thanks to his effective use of offshore family trusts over the years.
According to experts, Trudeau was lucky that he wasn’t an actual public servant as he would have been promptly fired for something much less severe than this. With files from Amy Kishek

Probably why they were fired.

After having worked for the feds I'm guessing the reason it was bought is because it is useless in both official languages.
Funny thing about it though is that it does not seem to affect everyone. I have two friends work for DND, hired the same day and one has problems almost every cheque and the other has yet to have a problem.
