Many people have said this in the forum before, simply saying that people have been doing something for a long time, doesn't make it right.
If that were the case then we should not make female circumcision illegal because it has been practiced for a very long time in certain parts of the world. I think, if we were all open and honest that we all impose some of our believes onto others, female circumsicion being one, child eduction being another. We tend to forget that our society forces people to do many things because we have deemed it "good for them" or outlawed a practice which we have deemed "bad".
Obviously, the biggest difference between the people who are pro-abortion and those who are pro-life is their belief with regard to the child.
Pro-lifers equate abortion with the killing of an innocent child whereas the pro-abortion side see the child as simply a mass of cells. The interesting part is that even most pro-abortionists will admit that at some point they believe the "mass of cells" does become a child within the womb, they simply don't know the exact time. I think we can all agree that it is crazy for Canada to have no law for the situation where someone stabs a mother who is carrying a baby that is full term and kills the unborn child and cannot be charged with anything with regard to the attack on the child.
As I've stated earlier, if I was czar I would outlaw abortion, except in the case of a mothers life and then ensure that the pregnant woman had every support they required to make their pregnancy as easy as possible. Make adoption a more viable and acceptable option then it is today, many young woman who give their child up have the feeling that they are abandoning their child. When in fact they are offering a better life for their child, one that they couldn't provide at that particular time in their life.
Another topic, that neither side will convince the other.
RB, when I have ever made an religious arguement in this forum?? I've never quoted the bible who referred to "What Jesus would do". I resent the fact that you would try to use religious arguements to make your point when we both know that when anyone else does you immediately scream, "Don't impose your religious believes onto others."
