Interesting, it doesn't bother anyone when Eddie Murphy or Richard Pryor use the "N" word.

I'm not sure that Eddie Murphy is overly selective with his adjectives. That kid delivered a strong message- maybe people should be listening to him.

I'd guess it bothers him. He wasn't addressing white people using it, he was addressing the issue of black people using it to talk to other black people.

If there wasn't a "shock value" involved with that word, that would make many
feel uncomfortable....& then put at ease by that comedian (leading to eventual
laughter between being put at ease and the humor involved)....then Eddie Murphy
would have no reason to use that word.

Bill Cosby took a lot of flak a few years ago when he said that everyone needs to stop using that word, including black people. There were a lot of angry people that felt he was a "traitor" for saying what he did. I agree with what he was saying. How can you get angry only at certain people using that word, and then not bat an eye when it is said by someone else.

For example, how many times do you hear this word in rap or hip-hop songs nowadays? If the word is viewed as being racist, then it should not be said by anyone. It's not really that hard to understand, right?

(I should mention that the last sentence above was not directed towards anyone here. :) )

Funny, people that get all indignant about the "N" word but think nothing of using "wagon burner, rag head, beaner, taco bender, and on and on.It doesn't mean anything to me,it's like f~(#,I don't hear it in a conversation,it's just another word.

I hear you, but I suppose it's up to the guy who's on the receiving end - to me it's no worse than "bullhunk" or "oatmeal savage", some people don't mind and others are deeply offended and if they are I think a person should cease and desist. With the N word in a lot of cases it's white people who are more offended than the Blacks- that's when I get p*ssed off. Years ago in Vancouver there was a perogi restaurant on Granville St. operated by a guy who called himself "Hunky Bill". A bunch of busybodies (women) thought that was just terrible and tried to get the term banned from public use.:lol::lol::lol:
