It's the old chicken that has the juice. :p

I'm still grappling with this statement...

know what you mean. It sounds like something ( wisdoms) that one gets out of a Chinese fortune cookie

Or an adage from a culture you are not familiar with that has nothing to do with fortune cookies

nah........I like my theory better.

Someone outrageous and worthy of a big legal battle - like claiming part of BC actually belonged to Alberta.

A huge controversy arises - who settles it? In the states, this has come up. The Sabine River Debate went to the Supreme Court and was decided in favor of Lousiana and against Texas.

What is the equivalent of the Supreme Court in Canada?

Uncle

hmmm ... your question got me to thinking of another scenario, Uncle. What if the US did something that made Canada furious? Something outrageous and worthy of a big legal battle - like annexing Alberta to the US.

Notice I didn't say it would make Alberta furious.

So, you all are saying that Alberta would appeal to the Supreme Court and try to get that piece (in theory) of land away from BC.
And the Supreme Court would decide, and both provinces would have to agree?

OK, what if a territory had a dispute with a province? Does being a province carry more weight, and are the territories represented in the Supreme Court?

Notice I didn't say it would make Alberta furious.

If that happened (annexing Alberta), I would fall over backwards in my chair. We would buy Alberta. Not annex it. Nor invade it. I hear the rustling of money in Texas already. Incentive money.
James, you know how it works - we bought Alaska.

We would buy Alberta.

yep....... the nation where the dollar is GOD, and values, humanity is meaningless and disposable. and all this under the fecking phoney guise of "religious " ideology too..

the US greed has no limit , does it??? But it is worse than simple greed........as greed is almost understandable as a character flaw. It is "I WANT, I TAKE what I WANT, when I want it. Pay for it , IF I HAVE to. If I can renagge on the payments....will do that too. Ya see, it is about scruples ........which the US ....has NONE> :(

no what if here. Alberta does something regularly to make BC furious. But then I am sure BC does things that diss off Alberta. Somehow we manage to work it out Sometimes we even pout for a while.even grumble loudly ....most times we try to talk things through......and resolve these issues through dialogue.

PSST:: To the US.......Does anyone KNOW what DIALOGUE is down there??? and NO, DIALOGUE does not involve GUNS, or MONEY...

Well, in looking over a lot of your business ownerships, it seems that you have sold out to MANY foreign factions. We would not be able to buy Alberta, unless their voters decided it was OK.
Do you honestly think - IF Alberta went with another country, that China would be better? Or - who could afford to buy her? Who?

Greed, aww honey, now you just don't understand the good ole boy system. Smile!

Oh we get along with other nations, but not rogue nations. You on the other hand would rather get along with rogue nations like Venezuela and Syria rather than your neighbor to the south.

:banghead: :binky:

shows how very little you REALLY KNOW and how VERY MUCH you exaggerate , or assume. Quite sad. Listen.....no one on this planet can stand bush. Get it??? He ain't welcome anywhere....and is barely tolerated when he shows up. Now if the US population adores him.....then what does it say about them??? Time to take off those flag tinted glasses and appreciate your neighbor to the north, reciprocate in mutually beneficial relationships ...and progress towards some semblance of peaceful co existence. Is that too much to ask??? dang......you have lost the right to pick and choose nations now.......Can't you SEE how out of favor you are with the rest of the world??? The nations you condemn spit at you, the nations that you manipulate and try to befried do the same only in a different way. What will it take for some of ya to really wake up to the global wholistic picture?? It is NOT all about the US........get it??

Canada has sold out a lot of stuff. Look at BC's sale of BC Rail and Hyrdo... for starters. I won't pretend to know much about the atrocities going on elsewhere in this vast country. I think it is true that a lot of Canadian landholders, you remember those people: the natives, the settlers, the farmers, the ranchers, the old homesteaders (yes indeed, Canada's backbone was bountiful land, farming, and we looked great in Hudson Bay fur too, not to mention our mines and oil...), sell out. Lately it seems a lot of the sons and daughters of the canadians (the natives, the voyageurs, the pioneers, the railway workers etc.) have decided to move to warmer/richer climes... Canadians do sell out. Each year more and more Canadian holdings are sold to the highest bidder, many to offshore "investment" entities. Even our governments are reflecting this proclivity to feather the retirement nest egg by selling Canada. To the point that a young family trying to make it's nest is a stuggling mightily to do it, and even if they make it in their own country, what is actually theirs? From Florida, Arizona, Atlantic City, and Mexico to name a few, they might vote by proxy... They might. Right after they check their Blackberries to see if they are up or down in their portfolios. Yay for Canada. We're only gold when it's Olypmics time, or kicking ass at hockey, like we can ')
