The first start is getting the east and west to agree to a huge pipeline, and maybe a refinery and port so we have options on where we can ship our crude.
The USA is going to balk and have this on hold for years because of the environuts.
With the development going on now we need infrastructure to ship it right now.

Yes, we have to diversify our market, but not to the east. Fk em, let them freeze in the dark. These whiners, the first thing they'll do, if they get a dedicated p/l is to start whining for a made in Canada price for our oil. The leadership in Ottawa is not secure, you gotta think about a scenario where a ****head like Mulcair leads the country. Someone like him would instill a two price system very easily.

I agree we cannot depend on the US, we gotta get that line to the west coast built, no question about that.
Another option is to consider building a line to Churchill Man to export our product.
But in any case, all these lines should be inspired, built and managed by private industry (and as you mention, maybe other country gov if it makes sense), but not by our government.

And if private industry wants to build to the east, let them, but they should never be allowed to have a controlling share of our oil production where they can dictate a price to AB...

Good point,I forgot about how the east feel they are entitled to our riches in the west that we spent blood sweat and tears to bring to market.
Ok,we go west,we allready sell 98% of the coal in B.C. to China.
Thats about the richest market to tap into right now.

A few things, one I am tired of people whining about the East being entitled to riches
from the west. This is one nation and its time to move on. Things move back and
forth, before the late forties, the east supported the west as it were, so all things shared
end up even.
Now for the idea of moving oil to both coasts, this is a good idea and it would likely
mean more exploration in other parts of Canada and the pipeline would work for us all.
Nova Scotia for example will be bringing oil on line from off the coast and there aer
other regions doing the same.
I do not support a pipeline to Prince Rupert though those inland passages questionable
for tanker traffic. Take it to Vancouver. Across the country there has to be negotiations
with stake holders but we should get those talks going soon I agree its a good idea.

Yep, and if we get that p/l to the west coast, we will also have the option of selling more to the US as well. We just transport it by ship to the refineries in lower California where they get a lot of their crude from the middle east. For us it would be a short shipping trip and lower transportation costs, a win win for everybody !!
And btw we could probably get out diluent back from these refineries in return ship and pipe it back to Ft Mac. Good deal for all !!
