The first start is getting the east and west to agree to a huge pipeline,and maybe a refinery and port so we have options on where we can ship our crude.
The USA is going to balk and have this on hold for years because of the environuts.
With the development going on now we need infrastructure to ship it right now.
Yes, we have to diversify our market, but not to the east. Fk em, let them freeze in the dark. These whiners, the first thing they'll do, if they get a dedicated p/l is to start whining for a made in Canada price for our oil. The leadership in Ottawa is not secure, you gotta think about a scenario where a ****head like Mulcair leads the country. Someone like him would instill a two price system very easily.
I agree we cannot depend on the US, we gotta get that line to the west coast built, no question about that.
Another option is to consider building a line to Churchill Man to export our product.
But in any case, all these lines should be inspired, built and managed by private industry (and as you mention, maybe other country gov if it makes sense), but not by our government.
And if private industry wants to build to the east, let them, but they should never be allowed to have a controlling share of our oil production where they can dictate a price to AB...
