VanIsle you are right I am giving extreme examples and there were a lot of them over
time. There is a difference between a pat on the bum and a severe beating, all I am
saying is the extreme incidents have always influenced my view of spanking in general. I determined that there would be no spanking in my home period. Everyone has a different view. As for the little buggers doing thing behind our backs
of course that is what kids do, as they learn what parameters are. Children are
just that children, and we are adults, that is why we have to determine how we are
going to deal with correcting their actions. And there are all kinds of solutions the
same as there are all kinds of parents.
Oh and yest I know of Frank, he was a long time announcer at was then an AM
station CJIB in Vernon, I know its FM now but the call letters I don't know.
I heard that Frank is doing something in the Vernon area. Old broadcasters just
move on to other things.

I think everyone in the area knows of Frank. He's been a friend for a very long time. I always think of him when mtg. int. rates hit about 22%. Him and his wife had to re-mtg. at that time. They were nearly devastated. Who wouldn't be!!! They worked their way through it but Frank lost his wife to cancer about 10 years ago, maybe 9 years.
I don't know what he could be doing. It was our understanding he was just going to retire - period. Maybe that got boring. I think he was too used to hitting the air waves around 5 A.M.
Getting back on topic. The right answer is that there are all kinds of solutions to all kinds of situations. A good parent never hurts their child in such a way that the child cannot ever get beyond it. I gave my kids little pats. Once when my husband was asked to describe one of the things he admired most about me, his answer was that he admired the amount of patience I had with our children. He came from a home where his mother was severely lacking in patience. His Dad was patience plus.

All those years in radio, I started at IB in the mid 1960's when Don Warner was alive
and Bob Adshead was there. I was there a matter of weeks and moved on to the
prairies for a number of years. A few decades later I came back to Vernon and
worked at CKAL for some time, and then got out of the business all together and
moved away. As for bringing up kids, patience is the key, and no matter how hard
it is getting them to think for themselves and take control of their lives is the most
important thing you can instill in children. To do that you have to start when they are
very young because it a graduated process.
