A massive earthquake hits B.C. — but what happens next? - BC News
It’s 1:59 p.m. on a wet Thursday in January. Three straight days of heavy rain have dropped up to 300 millimetres on British Columbia’s coastline. In the alpine, temperatures are climbing, sending meltwater downriver.

That's the threat to bc, but all parts of Canada have their own disaster risks that are just as bad. As the maritimes just found out. Be it earthquake, tsunami, hurricane or tornado, or some other catastrophic event EVERYONE should be prepared to face a long period where help may not be available.
I'm just curious what people have done to prepare. Personally i'm good without power, water or ability to travel for food or the like for 20 days at least at all times, and my place is pretty earthquake proof. I try to never let either of my vehicles drop below half a tank just in case i need to bug out and the gas station's offline. I've got more than enough firepower to deal with anyone looking to take from others in a crisis but honestly i don't see that as being a very likely problem (and i'll probably be helping a few older neighbors out anyway).
Everyone should do a little something to be ready for an unexpected disaster.
