I know plenty of troubled peole whose families are more than willing to raise and care for them, handicapped, mentally ill, drugaddicted, or otherwise.

The proof is in the pudding.

I too know a few that are in that position and they step up to the plate... Of course with the expectation that the gvt pick-up a big chunk of the tab... About $4k/mo when last told

Since the people making the donation write it off on their taxes. Just like union members remember? Or do you have a double standard?

Double standard?.. The unions presently don't provide any accounting.. We've been over this already

No he hasn't

Yes he has.. Quite clearly in fact

Yes

You are wrong. I'm offering a rebuttal to broad generalizations of homeless people.

Funny... Weren't you the guy that provided the over-generalization of severe handicaps?

I'm pretty sure that you were the one that pulled the trigger on that one when Angstrom provided his opinion and reference to the guy at McD's that was working harder than anyone else there.

The real problem is that the system is run by social workers to protect the best interests not of the handycaped but social workers themselves. There is no incentive at all for them to shed case load back into the workforce. But there is a huge incentive in the form of solid gold pensions and high pay for doing little to keep the status quo.

I'm one of them. It's a catch twenty two. My ex-wife requires full time care. If I do that, I cant work. I have to work to look after my kids. It really is a sad commentary on our society when people would rather have me and my kids or my ex live on the street rather than pay 0.06 cents per year to ensure she is looked after by qualified people (that's another issue. Many family members are not qualified to deal with different problems).

The way some people complain about it, you would think looking after the handicapped, mentally ill, drug addicted, or otherwise is preventing them from obtaining their own basic needs. We live in one of the riches countries in the world. We have the world by the balls and yet some people whine about helping the less fortunate. It's pathetic really.

Double standard?.. The unions presently don't provide any accounting..

Yes, and we both agree they should. It would appear you don't hold churches to the same standard.

Angstrom was talking about a guy with Downs Syndrome. Are you saying "Downs Syndrome" and "severely handicapped" are synonymous?

The real problem is that the system is run by social workers to protect the best interests not of the handycaped but social workers themselves. There is no incentive at all for them to shed case load back into the workforce. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

If only you knew how funny that post was.

.. And you invoked the severely handicapped moniker as if every case of homelessness was directly applicable.

No, Angstrom used the case of a guy with Downs Syndrome I just asked him some questions

I'm happy for him. Do you believe that..

A - He has not received any assistance in his life.

and

B - There are others more severely handicapped than he is

I brought this up as I found it very curious

I'm sure you did. You certainly didn't bring it up because it was somehow relevant.

You really don't have a clue do you?

Dealing with my ex-wife, I work quite a bit with social workers. You have no idea how funny that post was. Thanks for the laugh.

The good stuff imported by our military?

When you love somebody personal sacrfices are easy to make but finding support for the supportive is hard to come by. The stress is sometimes overwhelming.

The real problem is that the system is run by social workers to protect the best interests not of the handycaped but social workers themselves. I gotta call bull**** on that. Sorry bud.

handycaped? I know batman has a smokin' utility belt but whose cape is decked out?
