I'd also mentioned how I've seen contracts written by French-speakers and Chinese-speakers in broken English that I would never sign. I've participated at international conferences at which the English was so broken as to lead to a communication breakdown!

I have read that court cases over contracts written in broken English are supposedly common worldwide.

Given that Esperanto is from five to ten times easier to learn, why don't English-speakers learn it to meet the rest of the world part-way in the communicative endeavour.

That way, they too would learn an easier language and so learn it well and so communicate more clearly.

I am starting to learn Spanish in preparation for our circumnavigation of the world. Thinking it will be more useful than French and my spouse knows French already.

That's if one of the partners knows English well enough. I've heard conversations between two people, both speaking broken English, that were cringeworthy as they kept repeating themselves, correcting one another, explaining their meaning, etc.

Elle avait obtenu UN conseils anglophone et non pas francophone.

L'audience s'était déroulé à Montréal en anglais et personne le parlait très bien sauf son conseils et, moindrement, le juge. L'interprète moindrement encore. Et la conseils du ministère était foutu en anglais!
