November 8, 2025: NO MIRACLE FINISH FOR THE HERD

U.B.C. THUNDERBIRDS 7
MANITOBA BISONS 4

Links:
➤ Summary: Game Centre : Game Report
➤ UBC: ‘Birds run win streak to nine with another offensive showcase in Winnipeg (with boxscore)
➤ UofM: Bisons show late spark, but Thunderbirds complete sweep (with boxscore)

Quick Summary
UBC: M. Smith (02:51 1st) , K. Sadhra-Kang (17:39 1st) , C. Douglas (04:09 2nd) , C. McNabb (13:39 2nd) , S. Mutala (18:57 2nd) , N. Sullivan (19:42 2nd) , S. Mutala (18:59 3rd)
Man: Z. Turner (06:21 3rd) , B. Bonni (13:59 3rd) , E. Alarie (14:11 3rd) , L. Brenton (16:39 3rd)
Goal: UBC: Schwebius (21 shots, 17 saves), Man: Kieper (41 shots, 35 saves)

This was nearly the most miraculous comeback since Lazarus. Alas, it was not to be.

First up, the line-up changes from Friday for the Bisons were: Kieper replaced Holt as starting goaltender, Turner for Coyle on defence, and Dekay for Pasternak up front. I believe that Pasternak (the Friday night goal scorer) was injured. Joss was injured a couple weeks back. For the T-irds it was Schwebius for Mirwald in net, and Disher for Kotylak up front.

Late in the 2nd period, the T-irds held a 4-0 lead and things looked secure for them. Then, however, a pair of late powerplay goals made it 6-0 heading into the final frame. The shots were 35-8 and there was no reason to believe that the Bisons had the slightest hopes of salvaging a point.

But wait! The Bisons picked up the pace, rookie defenceman Zach Turner scored his 1st goal, and the T-irds started taking penalties. Those penalties turned into powerplay goals - three of them in two-and-a-half minutes. Defenceman Ben Bonni had his 1st, forward Eric Alarie had his 2nd, and defenceman Luke Brenton had his 2nd. Try as they might, the Bisons could get no closer. An empty-netter finally dashed their hopes.

In this game, the Bison forwards scored just once, making it two goals from them on the weekend. They will need to pick up the pace going forward.

Reg: C. Wirun (10:14 2nd)
Goal: Mac: Onyskiw (19 shots, 18 saves), Reg: Cunningjam (30 shots, 24 saves)

This one evaded my radar, I must admit. I had four screens going and the one on the U of R was showing their football game against the Banjo-Mutts. I guess that Regina is happy to at least have something in the win column at long last. The Family Guys thus keep their 50/50 going, now at 5-5-2.

MRU: J. Martens (02:29 1st) , T. Patton (09:57 1st) , V. Watterodt (09:57 2nd) , V. Watterodt (12:12 2nd) , J. Lies (14:11 2nd)
Goal: Alta: Barthwick (33 shots, 28 saves), MRU: Sims (20 shots, 19 saves)

The Bluegars must have been feeling the heat after Friday’s loss, and rebounded in fine fashion. The Evil Monkeys continue to chip away but I really don’t see them returning to dynastic status this year. The rebuild is on, I reckon. The Monkeys are now 7-4-1, and the Bluegars are 5-5-0, one point ahead of the Bisons.

Quick Summary
Sask: B. Buckberger (13:14 1st) , R. Rhinehart (17:44 1st)

Goal: Sask: Kooy (28 shots, 26 saves), Calg: Stankowski (28 shots, 26 saves)

This one lived up to its billing. Too bad for the Banjo-Mutts that they could not hang on to a 2-0 1st period lead. At least they salvaged a point. Bedrock U is now 10-2-0, and have opened some space ahead of the 2nd place Mutts, who are 6-3-1.

Preview: November 14-15, 2025: MANITOBA’S BYE WEEK

The Bisons, Evil Monkeys, and Banjo-Mutts all have byes this week. So, here are the weekend’s links with the series previews to follow. Not a lot of exciting matchups on offer. The weird thing here is that some teams will have four games in hand over others after this weekend.

The Family Guys beat the T-irds to start the seasons, but then UBC won 9 straight games. MacEwan leads Trinity Western by 9 points, so any points here are a bonus towards wrapping up a playoff berth. This series will bring them to their half-way mark of their schedule.

The T-irds have five of the CW’s Top 20 scorers, and 11 of the Top 40. They have once again divided their goaltending between Brett Mirwald (5-0-0, 1.40 GAA, .938 S%) and Cole Schwebius (4-1-0, 2.61 GAA, .870 S%). While their stats are impressive, they have yet to play any of the CW’s upper crust, but for Alberta. After their opening series against MacEwan, they played Trinity, Alberta, Regina, and Manitoba.

There are likely a lot of Tik Tok/YouTube/Facebook short videos of Friday night Cougar fights. Don’t confuse those with potential highlights of this series.

The Bluegars have five series, and five splits thus far. In all five weekends so far, MRU has lost on Friday and won on Saturday, against all levels of opponent. For a conference finalist a year ago, they have not quite found their form. At times they have looked like the contenders they have been in recent seasons. They could use four points here. They are just one point ahead of the Bisons in the race for 3rd place and a playoff berth.

Meanwhile, the Banjo-Cats finally got a win last weekend. Hopefully, they were easy on the moonshine in their celebratory party. They are easily the biggest disappointment in the CW, and maybe all of U-Sports. Dare they dream of a sweep which would bring them within four points of a playoff berth?

If the Dinos fail to win both games here, call an inquiry. Holy Trinity has an upcoming banquet called the 17th Annual Complete Champions Reception, featuring former NHLer Ryan Walter. Maybe he is returning to school and could add some scoring punch to the Spartan line-up?

November 14, 2025: NIGHT OF THE UPSETS

With the Bisons having a night off, I had to satisfy myself with some CWTV coverage. There were just three games, but none in the Central Time Zone. So I watched what I could on multiple screens. It was a much better than anticipated evening of entertainment.

OUT-OF-TOWN SCOREBOARD

(in overtime)

Links:
➤ Summary: Game Centre

➤ MacU: Relishing playing at home for first time in seven years, NCAA transfer Bamber leads Griffins vs. UBC (with boxscore - but the story was a preview)

Quick Summary
UBC: C. McNabb (03:13 2nd) , L. Kindree (04:28 3rd) , T. Thorpe (08:14 3rd) , J. Williams (15:29 3rd)
MacU: K. Chabot (05:53 2nd) , K. Chabot (11:02 2nd) , K. Chabot (07:07 3rd) , B. Bamber (18:08 3rd) , L. Dowhaniuk (00:43 1st OT)
Goal: UBC: Mirwald (24 shots, 19 saves), MacU: Onyskiw (44 shots, 40 saves)

Poof! There goes the T-irds' winning streak. Instead it was giggity-giggity for The Family Guys. Mac was leading or tied all game until Josh Williams gave UBC the lead on the PP with less than 5 minutes left. Brett Bamber tied it up for Mac in the last two minutes, then Logan Dowhaniuk won it in 43 seconds. UBC is now 9-1-1 while Mac is 6-5-2.

Saturday's rematch is streamed free on CBC's YOuTube Channel.

Reg: J. Steele (08:05 1st) , L. Holoien (08:43 1st) , P. Bjorklund (14:36 1st) , A. Third (17:49 2nd) , C. Belitski (01:10 1st OT)
MRU: S. Moe (09:34 1st) , J. Wiens (17:01 1st) , B. Stevenson (10:05 3rd) , S. Moe (11:13 3rd)
Goal: Reg: Cunningham (31 shots, 27 saves), MRU: Sims (22 shots, 17 saves)

This was unbelievable! The Banjo-Cats were leading all game, including 4-2 entering the 3rd period. At that point, the Bluegars rallied to force overtime and salvage a point. This makes it six straight Friday night losses for MRU. They are now 5-5-1, and Regina is 2-9-0. A win would draw the Banjo-Cats within 5 points of a playoff berth. Not really great, but some source of optimism.

TWU: none
Goal: Calg: Stankowski (22 shots, 22 saves), TWU: Audet L (18 shots, 14 saves), Sommer (31 shots, 29 saves)

After two overtime upsets, at least you can count on Bedrock U. Or for the negative Nellies out there, you can always count on Holy Trinity to lose. The Dinos are now 11-2-0 and the Spartans are 1-9-1.

November 15, 2025: THE NIGHT OF THE RETURN TO NORMALCY

After Friday night’s surprisingly wonderful board of fare, Saturday produced predictable results.

OUT-OF-TOWN SCOREBOARD

U.B.C. THUNDERBIRDS 6
MACEWAN GRIFFINS 1

Links:
➤ Summary: Game Centre
➤ UBC: ‘Birds bounce back with dominant win over Griffins (with boxscore & video)
➤ MacU: Griffins outcompeted in rematch, settle for weekend split after 'disappointing' 6-1 loss to UBC (with boxscore & video)

Quick Summary
UBC: T. Thorpe (02:49 1st) , C. Douglas (01:10 2nd) , J. Lee (01:24 2nd) , N. Sullivan (10:59 2nd) , S. Atkinson (18:30 2nd) , S. Atkinson (09:41 3rd)
MacU: L. Hughes (06:25 3rd)
Goal: UBC: Schwebius (14 shots, 13 saves), MacU: Ward (31 shots, 25 saves)

This was a twinight start, shown on CBC’s YouTube Channel. It was a dominant performance by the T-irds, rebounding from their Friday night loss. The 3-for-9 on the powerplay was the big difference. This gives the T-irds a 6-point lead over the Evil Monkeys, and The Family Guys are now 11 points ahead of Holy Trinity for 3rd in the division.

REGINA COUGARS 1
MOUNT ROYAL COUGARS 3

Links:
➤ Summary: Game Centre

➤ MRU: MHCKY: Mount Royal strikes back with a 3-1 win over Regina

Quick Summary
Reg: E. Pearce (08:45 1st)
MRU: C. Hanus (13:31 1st) , C. Bouchard (16:00 1st) , J. Tarzwell (10:33 3rd)
Goal: Reg: Cunningham (35 shots, 32 saves), MRU: Buenaventura (12 shots, 11 saves)

While this was a close game, it is worth noting that the Banjo-Cats managed just one shot on goal in a 3rd period where they trailed by only 2-1. They must still be happy with an OTW and a respectable loss on the weekend. The Bluegars are now 6-5-1, ahead of the idle Bisons at 4-5-1. Clay Hanus had his first goal and assist of the season. He returned for their series against the Evil Monkeys last weekend after his 43 points in 28 games last year. He had apparently turned pro in Sweden.

Goal: Calg: Tetachuk (23 shots, 21 saves), TWU: Savage (38 shots, 30 saves)

Holy Trinity didn’t look as bad as the score would suggest. I was focused on the Jets/Flames game on HNIC, but Bedrock U did not overwhelm them the way teams sometimes do.

Of note, Mikhailo Simchuk leads TWU with 6 goals and two assists in 12 games. He’s a Ukrainian kid who played partial seasons with Brooks in the AJHL and Grand Canyon of the ACHA, plus a whole bunch of Ukrainian teams.

GoBisons.ca has a story on defenceman Evan Toth and his efforts to mix hockey with medical school. It’s good to keep in mind that USports stresses the “student” part of ‘student-athletes”.

This year’s schedule is goofy. Bedrock U has played 14 games, to the Bisons’ 10. These teams played just a month ago, and already they meet again. Not to mention, back-to-back series in Manitoba.

The Bisons are coming off a bye week, whilst the Dinos played Holy Trinity. Before the bye week, the Bisons faced UBC, and all their all-star scorers. The Dinos are similar, having 6 of the top 20 scorers in the CW.

Although the Banjo-Mutts are off to a decent start, they have not grabbed the league by the throat and established themselves as the team to be beat, as was widely expected. They have splites with MRU and Manitoba, sweeps of Trinity and Regina, and were swept by Calgary two weeks ago before they had a bye last week.

Meanwhile, The Family Guys are the most .500 team around, well next to MRU that is. They have split with UBC, twice, and both sets of Cougars. They are thus a threat to strong teams, yet vulnerable to the weaker ones.

Hol Trinity usually have one close game per weekend, and are whacked in the other. Meanwhile, the Bluegars have lost every Friday and won every Saturday. That is peculiar. The Bisons are trying to chase down MRU, so would like these trends to continue.

ALBERTA GOLDEN BEARS (7-4-1, 10-7-1, OHT35 #6)
U.B.C. THUNDERBIRDS (10-1-1, 14-2-2, OHT35 #1)

The T-irds have handled everybody but MacEwan thus far. They lost to them in their opener, won 9 straight, then split again with Mac last weekend. In that hot streak, they crushed the Evil Monkeys 5-1 and 5-2. The Monkeys also managed to lose to Holy Trinity, yet also have wins over Calgary and MRU. They could really go any direction here.

November 21, 2025: BISONS BLANKED

CALGARY DINOSAURS 4
MANITOBA BISONS 0

Links:
➤ Summary: Game Centre : Game Report : Boxscore
➤ UofC: Win streak reaches eight as Dinos breeze by Bisons (with boxscore)
➤ UofM: Bisons host nationally ranked Calgary for second time in 2025 (preview)
➤ UofM: Dinos score twice on the power play in 4-0 win over Manitoba (with boxscore)

Quick Summary
Calg: B. Lee (04:35 1st) , H. Pakkala (02:43 2nd) , S. Kirkpatrick (16:47 2nd) , J. Poole (15:34 3rd)
Man: none
Goal: Calg: Tetachuk (18 shots, 18 saves), Holt (22 shots, 18 saves)

This game was closer than the score would indicate. The Bedrock Boys scored two on the powerplay, followed by a shorthanded goal, and wrapped things up with a goal two seconds after a powerplay ended. The announced shots were 29-28 favouring the Dinos (which sounded right) but the stats now say 22-18. That’s a huge difference. They usually update the running shot clock each period, and did so tonight. This was Bedrock U’s 8th straight win.

Here’s how they lined up:

MANITOBA
Goal:
31 Holt (30 Kieper)

Defence:
13 Brenton - 8 Toth
4 Bonni - 3 Borschawa
27 Turner - 6 Coyle

Forwards:
9 Alarie - 20 Zaplitny - 14 Swetlikoff
21 Pasternak - 18 Hooker - 26 Boucher
29 King - 19 Arpin - 24 Brennan
23 Lane - 11 Purdom - 28 Behun

Scratches:
G: 34 Plowman
D: 5 Bielik - 22 Willick
F: 10 Bouvier - 12 Trimble - 16 Joss - 17 Bruce - 25 Dekay

CALGARY:
Goal:
35 Tetachuk (1 Stankowski)

Defence:
4 Strange - 22 Horning
15 Hammett - 2 Fouquette
17 Wilson - 21 Anderson

Forwards:
42 Stewart - 38 Kydd - 29 Poole
25 Schmidt - 24 Kirkpatrick - 11 Massier
26 Bugera - 27 Fry - 20 Corbet
21 Anderson - 23 Pakkala - 39 Lee

Scratches:
G: 37 Kykkanen
D: 5 Joseph - 9 Bocharov - 44 Maguire
F: 14 Hungle - 16 Hauer

The Bisons missed a couple of wide open shots on goal. The forwards are not cashing in the way they should. The “Media Stats” page used to have this kind of team data, but the link is now blank since LeagueStat is no longer public.

Chantz Petruic scored his 10th, 11th, and 12th goals of the season for the Banjo-Mutts. The Family Guys were leading 3-2 in the 2nd period before the Mutts took control. I was unable to watch any of this one.

Yikes! The Bluegars opened the game outshooting Holy Trinity 19-2 in the 1st period and steamrolled them. I was also unable to watch any of this game, which might be a small mercy. It was the Bluegars first Friday night win of the season.

I saw the whole 3rd period of this one, and the score flattered the Evil Monkeys. They were outshot 41-16, which accurately reflected the play. Saturday’s rematch is on CWTV as usual, and also on CBC’s free streaming YouTube page.

November 22, 2025: A SERIES WITH NO EVEN-STRENGTH GOALS

CALGARY DINOSAURS 5
MANITOBA BISONS 3

Links:
➤ Summary: Game Centre : Game Report : CW Boxscore
➤ UofC: Special teams play powers Dinos to another road win (with boxscore)
➤ UofM: Special teams the story once again, No. 2 ranked Calgary bests Manitoba 5-3 (with boxscore)

Quick Summary
Calg: H. Pakkala (11:17 1st) , C. Massier (12:18 1st) , B. Lee (05:33 2nd) , C. Massier (07:45 2nd) , H. Pakkala (17:20 3rd)
Man: L. Brenton (01:41 2nd) , B. Swetlikoff (02:27 2nd) , B. Swetlikoff (19:18 3rd)
Goal: Calg: Stankowski (31 shots, 28 saves), Kieper (21 shots, 17 saves)

There were no actual 5-on-5 goals in this entire series. Technically, one of Bedrock’s goals was two seconds after a penalty expired, and the Bisons scored exactly two minutes after a powerplay started (and they never counted that one). Is that a correct statistical twist?

Here’s how they lined up:

MANITOBA
Goal:
30 Kieper (31 Holt)

Defence:
13 Brenton - 8 Toth
4 Bonni - 3 Borschawa
22 Willick - 6 Coyle

Forwards:
9 Alarie - 20 Zaplitny - 17 Bruce
23 Lane - 19 Arpin - 24 Brennan
18 Hooker - 14 Swetlikoff - 21 Pasternak
25 Dekay - 29 King - 28 Behun

Scratches:
G: 34 Plowman
D: 5 Bielik - 27 Turner
F: 10 Bouvier - 11 Purdom - 12 Trimble - 16 Joss - 26 Boucher

CALGARY:
Goal:
1 Stankowski (35 Tetachuk)

Defence:
4 Strange - 2 Fouquette
17 Wilson - 21 Anderson
44 Maguire - 15 Hammett

Forwards:
25 Schmidt - 24 Kirkpatrick - 11 Massier
42 Stewart - 38 Kydd - 29 Poole
26 Bugera - 27 Fry - 20 Corbet
39 Lee - 23 Pakkala - 9 Bocharov

Scratches:
G: 37 Kykkanen
D: 5 Joseph - 22 Horning
F: 14 Hungle - 16 Hauer - 21 Anderson

So, here’s the weird stuff on this summary:

Bedrock score twice in the 1st period, Hayden Pakkala on the powerplay and Carter Massier shorthanded. 2-0 Dinos at popcorn time. However, Dino Gavin Schmidt decided to charge into a Bison right after the buzzer. He got two minutes to sit in the box and feel shame.

The Bisons’ powerplay was doing well, and at the 27 second mark it became a two-man advantage. Luke Brenton scored his 3rd of the season, with time left on penalty #2. At exactly 2:27, Blake Swetlikoff scored his 3rd of the season, and it was 2-2. IMO, that is also a powerplay goal.

Before the period was over, the Dinos restored their two-goal lead on two more powerplays. Brendan Lee scored on a too-many-men penalty. (Bison line changes were sloppy, punctuated by several players doddling off the ice. That and icing from a couple steps away from the red line are my pet peeves.) Massier scored his 2nd of the night due to a penalty by Lucas Brennan in the o-zone, in fact behind the net.

This made it 4-2 entering the 3rd period. But the Bisons were outshooting the Dinos 20-14, and when not on the PK were doing really well.

Despite some good 3rd period pressure, the only goals (one each) were scored when goaltender Matthew Kieper was pulled from the Bison net. They yanked him when they started a PP down 4-2 with 3:20 left. Brennan’s ill-timed force-pass left Bedrock with a roughly 150 foot shot into an empty net. I don’t find it great to pull a goalie on a PP for that reason. Maybe somebody has crunched the numbers on the percentage improvement of 6-on-4 as opposed to 5-on-4. Swetlikoff’s 2nd goal of the night finished the scoring.

The Bisons have fallen well behind MRU in points. However, MRU and the Bisons have one series against one another (in two weeks), after which MRU has just one series left with a sub-.500 team (Regina). Meanwhile, the Bisons have home and away series against Regina, away series with Trinity and MacEwan.

This one had the same start time as the Bison game I attended, so all I have is the summary which I followed along whilst watching. The T-irds held period leads of 5-1 and 8-3. This makes the Evil Monkeys 7-6-1 and, in my opinion, they are flattered by their record. They are 2-6-0 against teams with winning records, and 5 of those 6 losses were by 3 or more goals. The replay is on the CBC Sports YouTube channel, so maybe I’ll look it over on Sunday.

When these teams first faced off, the Banjo-Cats were somewhat optimistic. They played reasonably well, although swept. Since then, their performance went to Hell in a handbasket. They have lost 10 games, seven by 3 or more goals. However, they have rebounded, so that in the last three weeks they split with MacEwan and Mount Royal before a bye week.

The Bisons absolutely need a sweep here. If they could sweep this series, plus Regina’s return trip to Manitoba, and sweep Holy Trinity, they have a realistic shot of swiping a playoff berth.

U.B.C. THUNDERBIRDS (12-1-1, 16-2-2, OHT35 #1)

This should be a great series. The T-irds are the hottest team right now, but are they the best? Going into the season, the Banjo-Mutts were highly touted. While they have played well, they are 1-2-1 against top calibre teams (MRU and Calgary), 3-1-0 against mid-calibre teams (MacEwan and Manitoba), and 4-0-0 against Regina and Trinity.

Meanwhile, the T-irds are 4-0-0 against Alberta, but have not yet played Calgary, MRU, or Saskatchewan. Accordingly, this series should tell us more about both sides.

CALGARY DINOSAURS (14-2-0, 18-3-1, OHT35 #2)
MOUNT ROYAL COUGARS (8-5-1, 12-7-1, OHT35 #11)

This home-and-home series between cross-town rivals is of importance to the Bisons. A sweep by the Bedrock Boys would really help the Bison cause. Oddly enough, I thought that the Bluegars played better than the Dinos when these teams came to Manitoba.

ALBERTA GOLDEN BEARS (7-6-1, 10-9-1, OHT35 #6)
TRINITY WESTERN SPARTANS (1-12-1, 5-14-1, OHT35 #33)

In the crazy CW schedule this year, this is the third and final series of the season between these teams. The Evil Monkeys have not had it easy against Holy Trinity thus far, with wins by 3-2, 5-1, and 4-2, before suffering a 4-3 shootout loss. The Monkeys were dominated by UBC, but have managed splits against both MRU and Calgary. I tend to suspect that their records flatters the Apes, but it IS their record.

November 28, 2025: BISONS WIN ON NIGHT OF SQUEAKERS

MANITOBA BISONS 3
REGINA COUGARS 2

Links:
➤ Summary: Game Centre : Game Report : CW Boxscore

➤ UofR: Team Website

Quick Summary
Man: K. Coyle (18:57 1st) , B. Swetlikoff (13:59 2nd) , S. Bruce (03:54 3rd)
Reg: M. Culling (01:34 2nd) , C. Belitski (19:08 2nd)
Goal: Man: Holt (34 shots, 32 saves), Reg: Cunningham (26 shots, 23 saves)

The Banjo-Cats played pretty well in this one. Their disastrous season may have turned around. They were 2-2 entering the series, so who knows? The Bisons still need sweeps of series like this one to make up the ground necessary for a playoff berth. The ice must be slanted at Regina’s Co-operators Centre. The Bisons outshot the Kittens in the 1st and 3rd periods, but the Kittens outshot the Bisons 18-4 in the 2nd period. Still, the Bisons never trailed at any stage of the game. The Bisons are now 5-7-1, and Regina falls to 2-11-0.

The Bison alignment was posted on IG, but Regina’s was not.

Quick Summary
UBC: C. McNabb (18:03 1st) , J. Wright (07:28 3rd)
Sask: C. Petruic (15:59 2nd) , L. Keeler (17:23 3rd)
Goal: UBC: Mirwald (32 shots, 30 saves), Sask: Kooy (31 shots, 29 saves)

This was a big game in somewhat of a “prove it” series. Both sides passed the test. The start of this one coincided with the Bison game, so it was on a secondary screen at my house. Both Sask goals were on the PP, which turned out to be the difference in the game. UBC was 0-for-3 on the PP, Sask was 2-for-7. I think Sask got the breaks on the penalty calls. Chantz Petruic notched his 13th goal of the season for the Banjo-Mutts, and was the only one to score in the shoot-out. Sask is now 9-3-1 and UBC is 12-1-2.

Quick Summary
Calg: C. Massier (14:12 1st) , K. Bugera (11:23 3rd)
MRU: T. Patton (07:46 2nd) , J. Tarzwell (14:53 3rd)

Goal: Calg: Stankowski (31 shots, 29 saves), MRU: Buenaventura (18 shots, 16 saves)

I was watching the end of this game and as it went into overtime the CWTV feed disappeared. The ending is also missing from the “on demand” section. The Bluegars actually played better than Bedrock U in this one. It took a PP goal with just over 5 minutes to go to force the OT. This was the Dinos’ 17th game of the year. So after this weekend they will have just 10 games left. The Dinos are now 15-2-0 and the Bluegars are 8-5-2. The Bisons thus gained a point on them, to be 7 points behind with two games in hand.

Quick Summary
Alta: S. Popowich (18:06 1st) , M. Pacheco (05:16 2nd) , D. Ruptash (10:07 3rd)
TWU: C. Farren (06:22 1st) , M. Simchuk (19:41 1st) , A. Hrabovetskyi (05:02 2nd) , C. Lowe (15:42 2nd) , J. Krahn (03:31 3rd) , A. Hrabovetskyi (08:02 3rd) , A. Hrabovetskyi (18:21 3rd)
Goal: Alta: Kruger (26 shots, 20 saves), TWU: Sommer (53 shots, 50 saves)

Holy Trinity shocked the world! On a night where every other game was 3-2, they laid a beating on the Evil Monkeys. The shots on goal, however, would not lead one to believe it was 7-3 in favour of Holy Trinity. Golatender Leon Sommer stopped 50 of 53 shots, but was not one of the three stars. First star went to Spartan Artem Hrabovetskyi, who notched a hat-trick. This gives the Spartans two wins over the Apes already this year. Trinity is 2-12-1, but are 10 points behind the Monkeys at 7-7-1. In between those two are MacEwan at 6-8-2. I doubt that the Spartans will rally so as to scare either team from Edmontown, but they will enjoy their wins.
