66 minutes played and France have not had a shot on target.

Not seen much of the supposedly marvellous Mbappe.

Disappointment and nerves in a Paris bar

Argentina 2-0 France

“We’re just not in the game. We can’t string four passes together. The team’s too stressed,” says Gaston.

“It’s a terrible start. If we can’t get the ball into our possession, we’ll never recover,” says Laura.

“Deschamps will give them a real pep talk. He knows how to do it. It’s our only hope.”

“The French side is too nervous. We need a quick goal,” says Basil.

“The replacements will make a difference, let’s hope so. Though personally I wouldn’t have taken off Giroud,” says Christophe.

Goal!

Argentina 2-1 France

Mbappe (penalty) after 79 minutes.

Can France get a late equaliser and force extra time?

GOAL!

ARGENTINA 2-2 FRANCE

ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! FRANCE SCORE AGAIN! MBAPPE! THEY ARE BACK IN THIS LATE ON FROM THE DEAD!

One minute and 35 second between the goals.

France have been poor. Argentina were minutes away from winning the World Cup. Two late goals in quick succession and now we're heading for 30 minutes of extra time.

It's 1986 all over again

Argentina 2-2 France

Stunning... absolutely stunning. The France fans have been sitting silently in their seats for most of this match but they are making all the noise now...

We all love a Diego Maradona reference - when Argentina won the 1986 World Cup they were cruising at 2-0 in the final until West Germany scored two late goals in quick succession to equalise.

History just repeated itself... but in '86, Argentina recovered and got an even later winner. It's anyone's guess who will take this one now.

What great entertaining sporting theatre on a Sunday night.

This is astounding. France looking to get the winner deep into injury time. Argentina are on the ropes.

Full time

Argentina 2-2 France

Messi nearly winning it for Argentina 7 minutes into injury time, but Lloris pulls off a great save.

But the whistle goes and, incredibly, it's gone to 30 minutes extra time - and then maybe a penalty shootout.

What a comeback from the French.

This could go either way.

As an Englishman, I'm disappointed an Englishman is no longer the only player to ever score a hat trick in a World Cup Final.

Still, this is the greatest World Cup Final in history.

It's astonishing.

Both teams could have won it just now in injury time of extra time.

We've had Golden Goals in the Euros, so the first team to score in extra time wins. But they soon did away with it.
The problem with non-golden goals is you get increased chance of the stupid penalty kicks. If you are going to allow an arbitary set of shots decide it, better to have the golden goal.

What would 1966 winner Sir Geoff Hurst be feeling right now knowing he's no longer the only player to score a hat trick in a World Cup Final? He's probably watching it on TV.
