Was doing my annual tour of Regina today with my son and went to show him Mosaic Stadium. As we drove by I was thinking there is an awful lot of construction stuff around the site to host a game tomorrow. Then I saw a second Mosaic Stadium in the distance. I had thought they were just updating the old one but I guess they are building a brand new one 1 block over. Assume it opens next year?

The Riders will play their first game there in June 2017. This fall the U of R Rams and the U of S Huskies will be testing out the new facilities.

That's pretty good for them. An improvement on past years.
It is good for them considering they had a hard time getting 10,000 out at Rogers Center.

Well, well,well....................my Riders won their first game of the season by a single point against the Redblacks tonight. Mind you they eliminated Wayne Harris, the RBs QB early in the first Q and with Smilin' Hank still on the sidelines Ottawa had to rely on their back-up, back-up - still they pulled it off and put 30 points on the board. Roosevelt was a monster in the game. Happy I am tonight.

Watched the Riders vs Ottawa game tonight. I had been afraid that it would be a blowout.
Was a fun game to watch.
Even more enjoyable since the Riders won in a squeaker.
This is the start of our Grey Cup run.
Go Riders Go

I honestly don't know whether the Eskimos are impressive all by themselves today or the Ti-Cats are making them seem that way because they are so pathetic. #1 defence coming into today's game and so far they've given up a total 31 points whilst their offense has managed the grand total of 6 - mind you there's time for a mini-miracle with 27 minutes of playing time left in the game.

It appears that the Ti-Cats may actually be on their first roll of the ...........and there you go Mazoli finds Toliver in the end zone and they get their first major of the game. Come on Ti-Cats!!!

Ti-Cats get their first sack on Reilly but he comes right back with another first down to Getz. Mike is over 300 for the 7th consecutive game.

Ti-Cats get their best field position of the game after a fine return by Brandon Banks up to midfield.......let's see what they can do now.

They get a break after Owens misses a pass that would have put them in the end zone when Eskimo's Young gets a grab on Chad..........but wait............there is a challenge......we are under review.........what will it be........Ti-Cats on the 1 or Ti-Cats 3 and 1 with many yards to go...........hmmmmn...............YEAH.........ruling confirmed!!!

TD Ti-Cats.........and they are slowly clawing their way back into this game

5 plays 54 yards and back-to-back TDs for the Cats

31 - 20 Eskimos

Oh **** Jonny Sears is off to the hospital after he took a hard hit to the hip

Eskies look good this year.

Indeed they do, pete............did you see Mike rip into the offensive line after that play where John absolutely creamed him? He was pissed! Loved it - you go, MIke!

Enjoying this game much more now that the Ti-Cats have focused their game. Jeremiah went 14/14 in the 3rd Q.

I am not at all amused with this really stupid new rule about how far the defense is able to fight off the opposing line before they've crossed the line. It sucks, I don't see any reason for it at all.

Maher missed the FG but Jeremiah's pass to Andy in the end zone.................was golden and just like that with 3 consecutive TDs, the Cats are right back in the game - down by 5. WTG CATS!

Holy Smoke................that pass was thrown from around the 40 and Andy was at the back of the end zone........really cool catch Andy. Helluva pass Jeremiah.

Ti-Cat's D is stepping up BIG..........they just held the Esks to another 2 and out

Banks returns the ball to midfield and the Cats have great field position....................man this is why I love the CFL

Jer to Luke..........1rst down and a bit

Holy ****.........how the heck did Jer get that ball away for a completion......on the run with Lacey grabbing at him.......

Brandon Banks!!!!!!!.......all the way to the 10

FANTUUUUUUUUUUUZZZZZZZZZZ! And the Cats take the lead..and are going for 2

Holy **** .............did you see that catch by Chad! Unfrickin real..........over his shoulder with a defender on his ***

Yep, the Cats are rockin' now

I have no idea what Kent said or did at half-time............whatever it was it's working

Two high-light reel catches back-to-back by my Cats...........yeah

34 - 31 CATS

Three consecutive 2 and outs delivered to the Esks by the Cats

Esks hit with a time-count violation - they were short a man on the field

Another flag flies just as the kick gets away............another Esk penalty .............ooh the fans are not at all happy

Esks tagged with pass interference on Tasker.............Cats gain another 12

21 consecutive completions for Jeremiah - 375 yards passing

Oops time-count violation...........first penalty Cats have taken in awhile.....they were nailing them a lot in the early going

Jeremiah just set a CFL record of 23 for the most consecutive passes....................ROCK ON JEREMIAH!

And he misses on a pass to Andy near the 1

And he misses again..............nice run though

Cats will settle for a field goal and keep it a one possession game

Maher kisses the goal post but gets the job done

37 - 31 CATS

Mike on the money to Getz for a big gain putting them around the Cat's 30

Pass to Bowman knocked down by Cat's Lee

2nd and long and Cats stop Esks for 3 and 1

Flag on the play..........challenge flag out ........looks like Kent threw the flag with 1:56 left in the game

Kent's saying there was illegal contact downfield...............but he loses the challenge and the final time out...........oooh not good

Esks get the ball over on the second surge

Flag on the play...............Esks march back 10 on a holding call

Yee Haw!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..................Cats sack Mike for the second time in the game..............big stop for the Cats with :43 left in the game

Esks hit with a face-mask penalty on the return and the Cats have the ball with :28 seconds left on the 13 yard line

Ti-Cats taking the win and the knee

That is by far and away the best comeback game of the season so far.

37 - 31 Final

Well done Hamilton Tiger Cats..............well done.

I almost didn't bother watching it anymore when the Cats were down by 25 points. I decided to hang in there. Our Cats rocked the Eskimos in their own field .........it was wonderful, grand, fantastic...........the very best of it was that being down 25 points at the half is nothing to sniff at especially when they were playing Edmonton. I give them so much credit for the way they got back in the game. Play after play bang on the money..........marching down the field pass after pass, catch after catch for 3 TDs in a row. You can be proud of them, pete.

Ex-Blue Bombers linebacker, wife killed at their Texas home
THE CANADIAN PRESS
First posted: Saturday, July 30, 2016 07:59 PM EDT | Updated: Saturday, July 30, 2016 10:59 PM EDT
HOUSTON - Former CFL linebacker Antonio Armstrong and his wife Dawn were fatally shot at their home in Houston on Friday and a 16-year-old boy has been charged as a juvenile with murder in the slayings.
Texas A&M University, where Armstrong played his collegiate football, identified the victims in a statement.
Police said officers discovered the wounded couple about 2 a.m. Friday. Dawn Armstrong died at the scene, and Antonio Armstrong was pronounced dead at Memorial Hermann Hospital hours later with a gunshot wound to the head. He was 42.
The suspect's identity is being withheld because of his age.
Armstrong started his CFL career in 1998 with the B.C. Lions where he played two seasons before being traded to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in 2000.
The six foot one, 235 pounder was an East Division all-star in 2000 while also earning Winnipeg's defensive player of the year honours.
A fractured left ankle on Oct. 15, 2000 sidelined Armstrong for a period of time. He attempted to return to the NFL, where he played for the Miami Dolphins and St. Louis Rams, before re-signing with the Blue Bombers in 2001.
Armstrong started in the 89th Grey Cup that fall -- a game which Winnipeg lost to the Calgary Stampeders. He retired in 2002.
CFL commissioner Jeffrey Orridge reacted to Armstrong's death with a tweet on Saturday.
"Unthinkable tragedy has claimed life of former Bomber & Lion Antonio Armstrong & his wife Dawn. Our thoughts & prayers to all who loved them," he said.
The Blue Bombers issued a tweet on Friday indicating that their thoughts and prayers were with the Armstrong family.
Texas A&M released a statement Friday saying Antonio Armstrong was a letterman who played for the Aggies from 1991 to 1994 and described him as a cornerstone of the A&M "Wrecking Crew" defence. He was named first-team Associated Press All-America linebacker in 1994 and was drafted in the sixth round of the 1995 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers.
An ankle fracture in training camp led to his release that October. He signed with the Dolphins and played in four games with Miami that season, logging four solo tackles. Armstrong signed with the Rams the following year but was released after their training camp.

Well we're about 2 minutes into the 4th quarter and the Bombers have been strafing the Ti-Cats all night long. They currently lead them 34 - 8. Jeremiah has gone from blazing hot last week to ice cold in the game tonight. He is not the only Cat that is struggling. The D was all but pitiful in the first half.

34 - 11 after a Maher FG

The Bombers and their fans are celebrating Milt Stegall's induction into the Golden Circle at Investor's Field.

The game was delayed 2 hours after a wicked storm blew through the area.

Jeremiah just committed the Cat's 5th TO with just over 4 minutes to go in the 4th

37 - 11 after Medlock nails the FG - he's been perfect tonight.

Can anyone figure this league out anymore? A team can be world beaters one week and a complete disaster the next.

Good point, Kreskin. For the life of me, I don't have a clue what a team will do from one game to the next.

Well good on them - their first home win since last September.
