It was slow going in the 1rst Q and part of the 2nd but things really heated up after the half with both teams battling for the lead. We're in the 4th now and the Redblacks lead the Esks 31 - 27. Smilin' Hank is out with an injury to his hand and Trevor Harris has stepped in as pivot.

And we are a quarter of the way through the 4th.

Milo just connected for a 3 pointer and the score is 34 - 27.

Esks just got the tie after a nice drive to the end zone.

Esks got a FG to go ahead 37 - 34. Less than :20 left in the 4th.

The RBs had a chance to get within field goal range but a complete breakdown in communication saw the RBs scrambling to get the right personnel on the field forcing them to take a penalty. The clock ran down to 0. Milo came out and ..................well he was right through the uprights and we are off to OT.

Right on Eskimos

Not so fast.............we're going to OT, pete.

TSN 2 is covering the Stamp vs Lion game and that one is about to get underway. Will stick with this one for now.

Wow.............RBs score first with a beauty from Trevor to Sinopoli in the end zone and they get the 2-pointer. Doesn't look like the RBs lost anything in the off-season

The Redblacks win 45 - 37 and they well deserved that win. I'm impressed with this team and a bit surprised at the Eskimos performance overall tonight.

We've just joined the Stamps vs Lions game.

Well the Lions definitely rock in the uni department.

Oh dear.............first kick-off return of the regular season and the returner for the Stamps drops the ball.........that'll live with him for awhile.

I'm too cheap to get cable. It's not worth it. I'm never home.

I lived without TV for a few years - didn't miss it a bit. I actually had dial-up internet before I got a TV and Sat coverage. A neighbor offered to sell me an RCA TV in a beautiful solid oak cabinet for $50. I jumped at the chance if for nothing else than the cabinet. I was renting at the time and the owners had a satellite dish - I got a great offer on hooking up with what at the time was Star Choice - who I really miss - and what is now Shaw. Shortly thereafter TSN expanded their channel coverage and I was in sports coverage heaven. I never looked back. I upgraded my TV a few years ago when another neighbor offered to sell me a 54" Toshiba flat-screen for $40 so I took him up on it. I do like HD it really brings the game to you in much more immediate fashion. Still, in my office, tucked under a window and adorned with plants sits my old RCA - just can't part with it.

Thursday I'll be watching at Woody's. Good food and Blanc on tap.

Is Barnaby's still open?

This is another one that is slow to get underway. We're just into the 2nd and the score is............1 - 0........oops, make that 4 - 0 for the Stamps who just managed to get a FG.

Never heard of Barnaby's. Which city? I'm in Coquitlam.

Well my bad. Barnabys in Regina. As I recall it was somewhere in the downtown area. Mind you, the last time I was there was well over ten years ago.

The Stamps got all the way to the goal line and couldn't make it over and the Lions get the ball on downs. Whoa.

It's still 4 nothing with 6 minutes left in the half..............this is not a barn burner. Hope the teams pick it up in the second half.

The Stamps made back into the red zone

And they get a time count violation that puts back outside the red zone

Then Bo throws a missile to #88 in the end zone and the Stamps get the first TD of the game. The convert is wide. Stamps surge ahead 10 nothing with just over 2 minutes left.

Moore drops the pass

But Burnham is on the money - first down BC

Gore gets them another 9 yards

Manny Arceneaux with the down and more.

The Lions are on the prowl into Eskimo territory but come up short and Leone will be out to attempt a FG. Wide right and the Stamps run the ball out to the 15.

Stamps come up short and Lions will have :31 seconds to reach the end zone one way or the other from the Stamps 40.

:12 seconds on the clock and Leone is out to see if he can find the middle of the uprights from 35 yards out..........and this time he doesn't miss. The Lions finally make it on the board just in time to see the quarter end with the score 10 - 3.

I'm outta here. Hope the game picks up some momentum.

Ottawa Redblacks are 2 and 0 so far with their win over the Alouettes tonight.

Just joined the Argonaut vs Rider game which was already in progress.

With just over 7 minutes left in the 1rst, the Argos lead the Riders 14 - 0.

So far the Riders have had two - 2 and outs and a TO on downs. Sounds way too familiar.

Riders get a couple of downs before coming up short.

Riders' D force Argos to 2 and out then Rider's take a penalty on the kick-off and the Argos get the ball back.

Argos 2 and out again. So the D's doing their job.

Roosevelt appears to be DD's favorite target

Steele's a scrappy player - doesn't give up easily

He's gaining us some yards on the ground

High hit on DD not called on field, under review - Argo's get tagged with a major foul and objectionable conduct after the play. Ball is spotted on the Argo 8. Rider's take full advantage with a nice TD throw on the first play, converts good and we're only down by 7.

Another 2 and out for the Argos.

Riders take the ball at their own 36

Gotta say that Darian is looking good out there. No hesitation

Gain of 6 on first play then DD gets surrounded and just makes it back to the line of scrimmage . Riders go 2 and out but get a good boot and trap the Argos at the 11 but give up another 10 on an illegal participation penalty by the Riders.

Somewhere back there Riders got a single so the score is actually 14 - 8 but the Argos under Rickie Ray are on the move - Ray got 13 yards himself after he escaped coverage and scrambled downfield.

Which is brought to a halt by a nice little sack on Rickie. Riders get the ball back with just over 2 minutes left in the 2nd Q.

Rider's come up short on 2nd and 6 by a yard and a half

Moniz behind center for DD fumbles the ball, Matt Black for the Argos snaps it up and runs the ball in for a TD, they miss on the convert.

2nd TO of the game by the Riders

Riders 2 and out

3 and 1 again - we've fumbled and turned the ball over so far. Jones calls a time-out to discuss the play. DD gets the ball to Curtis Steele and he gets the down and more. DD shows great poise in the pocket with coverage closing in, dumps the ball to Steele for a big gain then finds Bagg for another 8. Hand-off to Bagg results in a loss of yards and the Riders will have to settle for a FG and another 3 points.

Half-time 21 - 10 Argos

Kendall Lawrence gets a decent return on the kick-off as play resumes in the 3rd Q

Wow...............darians's pass is batted right back to him and he gets close to a 1rst then sneaks for the down.

Spectacular catch by Collins for a 35 yard reception

Bagg inside the 15 on the next play

Moniz gets another 5

Incomplete to Collins and again we settle for a FG

Argos on the march again but a couple of really good defensive tackles by the Riders stop them dead in their tracks

Argos FG is good and TO has an 11 point advantage over my Riders.

Riders will start just short of their own 35 yard line.

Steele gets us 9, first down on next play but a penalty takes that back

Roosevelt gets us the down but that is taken back by another penalty

We are going in the wrong direction

So it's another 2 and out

Okay........Argos go 2 and out and we have yet another chance to get on the scoreboard.......come on Riders

Gain of 5 on first play after a poor return leaving us a long field

Offside Riders, penalty declined and we're punting the ball

We managed to keep the Argos off the scoreboard to end the 3rd Q but we're still down 11 points.

Riders hold the Argos to a FG - granted a beaut from the 51 yard line

Steele gets the hand-off and a first down

DD overshoots Roosevelt but the Argos are tagged for holding and we get the down

Roosevelt tagged for offensive pass interference and it's 2nd down

Bagg comes through with another first down for us

Breaking news - #1 draft pick in the Canadian College Draft - Josiah St John is finally with the Riders. He's on the sideline tonight but not yet on the roster.

Roosevelt gets us further downfield

Incomplete to Chiles in the end zone - ball hung up way too long

Next pass incomplete and the FG team is on the field once again

And we come away with another 3 points

2 and out after a low throw from DD on 2 and 10

FG is wide. Argos concede us a single - whopee!

Rider's D get us quick 2 and out on an incomplete pass and then a force out of bounds for Rickie.

Kendall Lawrence gets us a great return by juking and jiving his way through the defenders

Keyon Raymond came within a finger tip of intercepting DD's pass

DD incomplete and we are 2 and out again

Argos forced to 2 and out

I have a feeling that we just may not win this one.

Lirim gets another 3 points for the Argos giving them a 30 - 17 lead with a minute 18 left.

I'm conceding defeat.

This seems like the same team I saw last year. Glad the argos are benefiting (they are my second team).

I wasn't expecting immediate miracles from Chris Jones....but I sure hope that something starts clicking soon.

Good win for your guys, IRBS.

Huge win by the Lions over the Ti-Cats today and the second in a row with Wally at the helm. Lions absolutely trounced Hamilton. Final score: 28 - 3. Nice win by your guys, talloola. They were solid on both sides of the ball.

The Bombers are in Calgary for the second game of today's double-header. Currently in the 3rd Q the Stamps are leading the Bombers 20 - 7.

Jerome Messam is having himself a night. He just rumbled down the field for a 53 yard gain. The Stamps are ahead 30 - 7 now with 4:20 left in the 3rd and they are in the red zone again. Marquis McDaniel just put another 6 on the board for Calgary. They miss on the convert so make that 36 - 7.

The Bombers managed to get a major in the 4th and now trail by 12.

They add another point with a single to the end zone.

Bombers just got another major, converts good and it's a 14 point lead for Calgary though with less than 3 minutes left in the game, it will take a TO and luck for the Bombers to win this one.

Time runs out on the Bombers and as Huf makes his way down to the sidelines to congratulate the new HC of the Stamps, the fans celebrate the victory on home turf.

Sask on the board first with a lovely 43-yard TD pass from DD to Rob Bagg in the zone.

Defense gets the job done not allowing Esks on the board but Sask will start deep in their own zone

Moniz in for DD fumbles the ball, Esks recover

The Esks taketh then they giveth away...... Reilly's pass intercepted by Sask's Cox in the end zone. Eskimos unable to capitalize on the TO

Sask get the ball at their 30 and drive it all the way down to the Esks 38 to end the Q

Riders stopped on 2 and 10 and the FG team comes out

Tyler Crapigna through the uprights and another 3 points on the board for the Riders.

Rider's D come to the front again - 2nd 2 and out of the game for the Esks

Riders cough up the ball on the return but manage to get it back under control around their 40 - better field position

Out frickin standing catch by Collins for a 59 yards and the Riders are in Eskimo territory

Roosevelt draws a pass interfernce call which advances the ball to the point of contact and puts the Riders at the Esk's 35

Incomplete to Chambers on 2nd and 6

Tyler will be called upon again and is good from 39 yards out

13 - 0 for the Riders and maybe, just maybe Chris is getting the players onside with his style of football. Haven't made many mistakes so far except for the TO by Moniz but he appears to be somewhat of a clutz.

White with a great run and a 17 yard gain for the Esks

It's so strange to see Getz in a Eskimo uniform

So Leonard seems like a keeper

Oh that was beautiful even if it was an Edmonton TD...............great poise by Reilly - 56 yard TD to Chambers.

13 - 7

Riders backed up to their 16 after taking a holding penalty

Incomplete to Chambers

First two and out for Riders in the game

What goes around......................Sask recover an Eskimo fumble on the return - Sask have the ball at Esk 50

Roosevelt to the 13 yard line

What a catch by Collins in the end zone!!!!

Convert is wide but the Riders put another 6 on the board

Chris Getzlaf puts 6 on the board for the Esks after a great drive by Edmonton

19 - 14 Riders with :25 left in the first half

Riders will let the clock run out and that's two quarters in the books

Eskimo's get their first lead of the game midway through the 3rd when White takes the ball over for the TD. Edmonton goes for 2 but come up short. 20 - 19 Edmonton

Will update the game later.

It took OT to decide the game but the Eskimos were able to come up with a 39 - 36 win over the Riders for their first win of the season the Riders' second loss.

I went to the Lions-Argos game on Thursday. Very small crowd. We picked up last minute tickets and sat 16 rows up on the 50-yard line. Great seats but a dull game.
