Around the League in Week 10
There are fans in our league and then there are fanatics. I put those who threatened RB Charleston Hughes in the latter category.
Argo QB Ricky Ray was forced to leave the game last week after injuring his shoulder when Calgary DE Charleston Hughes forced him to the field with a good clean tackle- nothing dirty, nasty or illegal – yet some Argo fans think otherwise. Charleston has apparently received threatening emails through his website. He used his twitter account to respond to the threats. The CFL are now looking into the allegations. Some people really need to get a life.
In related news, the Argos announced today that Ricky Ray will be out for a minimum of 6 weeks with an injured shoulder. :-( What a cryin' shame. RR was on pace for his best year in the CFL. Not counting this week, there are only 9 games left in the regular season with RR out for the next 6, the fortunes of the Argos will rider on the shoulders of Zach Collaros.
Tristan Jackson is officially back on Rider’s team. He will be helping out with DB and KR duties - chances are we will get to see Tristan as early as this Sunday in the LD game. Welcome back Tristan.
REGINA -- Tristan Jackson is back with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
The veteran defensive back/kick-returner re-signed with the Riders on Wednesday.
The five-foot-eight, 185-pound Jackson spent the last two seasons with Saskatchewan. Jackson, 27, appeared in 13 regular-season games in 2012, registering 30 kickoff returns for 794 yards, 32 punt returns for 303 yards and four missed field goal returns for 267 yards, taking one back 129 yards for a TD.
Jackson also recorded 20 tackles, five pass knockdowns and an interception.
Jackson began his CFL career in 2008 with Edmonton and has played in 69 career regular-season games.

Diamond Ferri has been benched by CC for the Labor Day game. I agree completely with this decision. Ferri didn’t learn his lesson two weeks ago and racked up more penalties in the game against the Eskimos last week. Glad to hear he is benched – hope this will give him time to realize that you don’t earn a spot on the team if you continually work against it.
Weldon Brown has been fined by the league for his illegal and dangerous hit on Edmonton QB Mike Reilly last week. As per league rules, the amount of the fine was not disclosed.
In his first year with the team, Weldon has had 29 tackles and 2 sacks to his credit as well as 1 interception for 42 yards and 2 fumble recoveries as a DE. In his position as a kick returner he’s returned 2 for a total of 41 yards, an average of 20.5 - the longest being 25 yards.
Didn’t take the Bomber’s long to snatch up DE Greg Peach. One day after being released from the Hamilton Ti-Cats, the Blue’s announced he had joined the team. They also announced the release of DE Fred Harris.
Headline on the Winnipeg Free Press Sports Page today: "The Blues have no clue (no kidding ) who will start...or backup...at QB in Regina." Out of all the options the author had for a headline, this kind of sums up the way Winnipegers must be feeling about their team this year. I had read that Buck would start but as seems to be the case with Bomber management lately, that has changed yet again. Max Hall has an injury. Buck- what a surprise - has an injury. Justin Goltz's performance to date has done little to inspire confidence leaving newcomer Jason Boltus. Hey Bombers - live on the edge - put Boltus in - really - could he do any worse than the others?
Hamilton Ti-Cats will be w/o Sam Giguere after he underwent surgery on his wrist. Luckily, Hank still has the sure hands of Fantuz, Ellingson, Grant and Stala - who will step into Sam's position along with the very capable RB CJ Gable. Heal fast, Sam.
The schedule (see below) really sucks this week, pardon my french but why they chose not to find a venue for a double-header on Labor Day Weekend - almost a tradition in the CFL - a weekend that generally sees an upsurge in attendance across the CFL is so beyond me I am at a loss for words. On top of that the final game - Montreal vs Toronto (a team that is all ready suffering low attendance numbers) will be on Tuesday. Seems that the Argos only win to lose. The entire schedule this year has been bizarre to say the least and really makes me wonder what the heck the league is thinking – if indeed it is.
Friday: Hamilton at BC - 7PM PST/10 PM/EST
Sunday: Winnipeg at Saskatchewan – 1PM PST/4 PM EST
Monday: Edmonton at Calgary – 2 PM PST/5 PM EST
Tuesday: Montreal at Toronto – 4:30 PM PST/ 7:30 EST
Hoping to get more updates on player injuries and line changes before Friday's game.
