I'm not sure why there wasn't greater attention of the timing of this. Usually indictments of foreign operatives, with no chance of extradition, remain sealed in the prospect they might be picked up during travel to a country with an extradition treaty. Not so here. The realistic expectation is these individuals will never be brought to court and therefor the Special Prosecutor will never have to prove his case.
Since all of this information has been known for months this announcement was clearly intended to cause the maximum embarrassment and distration to Trump; 3 days before his summit with Putin. Mueller has NO case for Collusion. No Trump campaign officials were indicted.
In fact the complaint specifies the Russians acted in secret and under false pretenses. Mueller simply has presented a case of some maudlin Russian mischief in the election campaign. Well welcome to the global world of intelligence operations and counter operations. You can be assured that America has been a major player in these cyber games for years and were likely major actors in the Russian Presidential election.
What is troubling is Mueller is using his office to influence American foreign policy and undermine the President.. for which he has no electoral or executive mandate. That's of much greater concern than some inconsequential Russian pranks. It is, in fact, a full scale attack, to the level of a coup d'etat, on the Constitution.

A lot of this will depend on how Trump handles it. But if he
was an ethical person he would put the country, the Democratic process of elections above his own selfishness nees .......and gracefully acknowledge that the election was not legit .......get consultation on whatsit s the PROPER protocol now....... and resign. Call for an interim government. (no not allow Pence to take over )......and set a date for a new election. Clear the books of the whole mess. This is the last thing that Putin would want or expect.Trump could save face by putting the nation first...... It might be a relief for him too.....as he does not seem to like any aspect of the job except the trappings , status, and power. meetings bore him and he has no interest in the details he should know about much of what he should be handling.the reality is that the role of POTUS and trump are simply NOT a good fit.Suspect his bully stubbornness will just make him dig in deeper and do more stupid things.
