Good question, however, I can't even begin to imagine the political crap-storm that would result if it were ever posed as a public question
Such hatred and racism from the gays on this forum.
Native Indians did not believe in same sex marriage, even before the White man arrived. This is part of their culture.
Also, because they are "Nations" within Canada and the USA, with treaties.. I don't think it really matters. They have their own laws and customs and they should be respected while on their lands.

Our government signed treaties with the bands. It's their lands, their laws.. respect their culture.
Isn't it enough that we stole their land and squeezed these proud people on to small reserves.
Also in some cases, the Canadian government has moved the Native Indians and relocated them when oil, or other resources were found under their land.
It's despicable the way we treat Natives in Canada.

All tribal laws, like all state laws, that forbid gay marriage were overturned by Obergefell v. Hodges.

If the court’s Obergefell v. Hodges ruling determines that same-sex couples have a constitutional right to marry, Native American bans on gay marriage will remain in effect because federally-recognized tribes have the right to establish their own laws and are not subject to the U.S. Constitution.
