So I guess it wouldn't be kosher for the P.M. to spend Saturdays fixing up the joint? The decadence these days!!!

Well if he wanted to spend the time to get all the necessary tickets in order to be employable then applied to the NCC for a job - don't see why he couldn't give up a weekend or two if it tickled his fancy.

Rideau Hall has 22 rooms, JLM. I think we can safely assume two or three are bathrooms. Then there are the kitchen, dining room, living room, office area, etc. etc. ...........you get where I am going with this. Even if there were enough bedrooms to house 25 refugees, I would not want to see them housed in the PM's private residence. It is his and his families' home while they are in Ottawa - not a hostel.

I was just kind of half joking there, Mowich. I do have a gnawing hunch that won't go away that the refugee endeavour is not going to work and once they're here it's almost impossible to send them back. Think Justin may be a little naïve in that regard.

Once they are here...........that's it........the deed has been done and we will be stuck with the consequences.......good or bad. I just have a really hard time wrapping my head around how in hell he is going to relocate that many people with all their necessary papers in two months.

He doesn't know it yet, but he won't! :) It can take one person up to a year to get all the papers!

"The government" is just a bunch of people- like 35 million of us. Saying "the government pays" means we pay!

That job will take quite a few tradesman but I bet they could put a lot of labourers to work under his infrastructure program.

I don't believe that this house is in bad condition. It was fully renovated in the 50s and definitely gets more maintenance and renovations in 1 year than the average home gets in 20 years.

IMO, this is an early example of what to expect from Justin Trudeau. Not in power for a month and he is already trying to blow 10 million in expenses. This is no small thing. This makes Duffy look like an angel.

'Urgent' renovations needed on 24 Sussex, but Harper won't move out

Looks like Harper destroyed more than just the Canadian economy

24 Sussex was dilapidated long before the Harpers moved in. PMs back to Chretien and Mulroney were complaining about the poor conditions.
The PM's residence belongs to Canadians. I don't see why tradesmen can't donate a few hours labour to upgrade the place. Government pays for materials, Canadians supply the labor.
It's been let go because when a government contract for this kind of work come up the contractors say, 'Oh government! Let's soak the hell out of them!' That 'soaks the hell' out of the taxpayers'.

Great comeback....

Thanks! I didn't think it was all that great but it's all a Harperite deserves. It's amazing how many of them were so stupid as to take the OP seriously...well OK...not really amazing when you look at their body of work.

Last word....always the last word.....
Go ahead little girl..........

Are you going to throw another temper tantrum and follow me around the forum again. That was priceless. Perhaps you would feel a little better if you stick to the topic at hand instead of making this about me. I know I'm in your head but everybody else doesn't care
