    Ham Anyone?

You might be surprised at how much better the ham tastes if you get rid of part of the salt. "The soaking stuff" is done only to remove some of the salt.

    Ham Anyone?

We all OD'd on turkey over Christmas so we cooked a nice big, ham after New Years. Does anyone have a favourite way of preparing a nice country ham? The following is one of our favourite ham recipes. Start with a ten pound, smoked, country ham. Place the ham in a large kettle with a lid and...

    Hangover remedies for today?

Well, if you are really suffering. "Hair of the dog that bit you" is something that works......if only temporarily. I would limit it to beer and orange juice(only on a day off) and try to get a bit more sleep.

    Great World Junior game

Canada 7 U.S. 4 That has to have been the best hockey game I've seen in a long time. The U.S. broke out with a three to zero lead that looked insurmountable but Canada came back to tie the score and go ahead by one. Though Canada improved their lead it was never a sure win until the last...

How many here have beef fondue occasionally?

Karrie I guess it is just a matter of what you like. We have the stone as well and I think it is a poor second best to the fondue. We taught our kids fairly early (about 8 or 9 years old) how to use the fondue and how not to use it. Never had a problem.

How many here have beef fondue occasionally?

The whole idea of beef fondue is to make every bite of beef steak, like the first, nicely browned, hot, bite of a good steak. In that respect, it is second to none. There is no alternative. If you don't think your kids can be trusted around the hot oil, don't invite them. It is as simple as...

How many here have beef fondue occasionally?

If you are afraid of toppling the fondue pot, maybe you should do your drinking after dinner. The fondue pot we have is very stable and would be very difficult to tip over in normal use. If you are going to use broth......Why not just make soup?....

Real Shepherd's Pie With Lamb Our Real Shepherd's Pie is made with lamb and is quite rustic with its vegetable and potato filling. This is the way that shepherds would have made it! Brown the lamb chunks in olive oil, a few...

How many here have beef fondue occasionally?

Beef Fondue is an adult activity. You don't let young children around hot oil. Beef Fondue is something you do after the kids are in bed. We have used our Fondue burner, pot, and forks, for thirty years or more with nary a mishap.

How many here have beef fondue occasionally?

Beef Fondue Probably one of the neatest ways to cook beef tenderloin. We generally do beef fondue on New Years Eve. We cook not only beef but whole fresh mushrooms, and prawns. For sauces we use Tartar Sauce, Tomato Garlic Sauce, and Bearnaise Sauce. One good thing about beef fondue is how...

Our weather, The Day After Tomorrow?

Enjoy it??? The weatherman just promised us another 20cm of snow to go with the 70 cm we've already had. I don't like shoveling snow. In fact, I hate shoveling snow. The mini-mountain range that the snowplows are building on the sides of the streets is over six feet high in some areas. Sh...

Our weather, The Day After Tomorrow?

A pretty good critique of that movie Karrie. If they start with a stupid story, they end with a stupid movie. I can think of a few books I could happily burn but generally, burning books is not acceptable behavior. I'm wondering if the Library of Congress actually has a fireplace, and why.
