I saw some of the discussion the nominees has yesterday. Nothing makes my blood boil in politics like politicians pandering to evangelicals, especially when their position makes no sense.

McCain was asked when human rights were acquired. His answer, at conception. His answer tells me he doesn't begin to understand what that means, except it earns him some votes. That was nothing short of political prostitution. The in almost the same breathe he declares the liberal chief justices legislate from the bench. Granting human rights to embryos isn't? What a load of rubbish.

It is said that people in the US can't have an election without politicians adjusting common sense to suit religious nonsense.

I wonder if the powers that be have ever considered how extremists get their strength in those "evil lands". Can you see Jerry Fallewll running the show in Washington?

Prescedent.... GW kissed evangelical butt too. It got him elected

Well there you go. He knows he can't win the US public with common sense. So he's using a tactic he knows works.

But hopefully, people who didn't vote in 2000 and 2004 might wake up and realize the US would truly benefit from a change in scenery in Washington.

It's simple: just like most creatures prime motivation is food, what drives most politicians is populism. They go where they think they can get their bread & butter votes, what's left if they can get them is the gravy votes and they will prostitute themselves for those votes.

I watched Obama's interview with the preacher last night, and he gave his honest
answer concerning abortion, stayed consistent to himself and his position,
but McCain totally sucked up and said just what they wanted to hear, and it has
nothing to do with his individual opinion, just as you all say 'suckholing for votes'.
The thing is, he doesn't care at all, has no shame, he knows that we know what
he is doing, and he did anyway.
He said his presidency will be 100% pro life. The evangelicals are the one group who don't
like McCain, and he did this to draw them in, as there is nothing about him 'otherwise'
that they are interested in, they know he is not 'right wing', that he is a centerist,or, at
least he always used to be, not so much anymore.
They were dissapointed when he was nominated, and this is his one 'last ditch effort' to
get their votes, but I also noticed that Obama got many loud applauses last night, so,
there were many in the audience who appreciated him, as I do.

It is the evangelicals who got bush the presidency last two times, (thanks to Carl Rove's
very efficient research and efforts), as he is the brains behind bush's presidency, he is
gone now, as he is not needed any longer.)
Ohio was the deciding state in the last two elections, and after I watched a show with
one of the 'heads' of the evangelicals, he explained how they got out by the hundreds
of thousands in ohio, and made sure the republicans took that state at the end, as it
was ohio that put him over the top.
Everything for those people is about 'pro life', and many of them are very malitaristic, support wars, and pushing into other religious areas with their 'so called' christianity, and they eventually want to make sure that
Roe vs Wade is turned over, and they are very frustrated that it hasn't happened yet.
