In every freakin' newspaper in the land there is no Canadian crossword, they all come from the USA. Why? Has anyone ever seen a clue, "Four letter acronym for retirement nest egg." Oh no, is always IRA for an American term. Or "Famous hockey player in Boston." Duh. Or my favourite, "Canadian province." Ont or Que. Cliche.

This is business because people get paid money to make crosswords. Canadians do crosswords every day, they are no unimportant issue. I can't make one, I tried. To me it's word accounting-which is tedious, but some Canadians could make crosswords if they were given the chance.

A fine example of how Americanized we are in our media. People love trivia and we need Cdn trivia in our media daily. Or, "19th century Nova Scotian sailing vessel." :angryfire::angryfire::angryfire::angryfire::angryfire::angryfire:

Wouldn't be profitable for news papers. But give Ottawa Citizen or Sun a glance.

Well, I checked out the Ottawa Sun and got this American puzzle through the links. http://www.uclick.com/client/can/fcx/

Nor profitable? Huh? This is an information business, you pay some word accountant to create a crossword and email it across the country. They are tough to make, I can't, but I like doing them. A loser Canadian mentality. Canadian business says, "We'll just buy it cheap from the Americans." Millions in Canada do crosswords every day.

Need more info here please.

Canada does jack to encourage Canadian writers and artists. They wonder why we're losing our Canadian identity? There's why. Even our schools are taught from American textbooks or on America Online now.

Lone,
I do not doubt you. But I think our identity is becoming stronger worldwide.

Worldwide identity doesn't really matter when your own heart's been Yanked....

Woof!

My heart has not been Yanked, thank you. All of my encounters with the 'Roos over many years have been negative.
So I am a true "red" blooded Canadian first, and a true "blue" blooded Quebecer second.

Take care.
