I have to say that seeing mostly the New England area where commerce can be situated in the middle of no where people seem to have the attitude of "lets go out of out way and encourge his business ".

You know what I love?
Multinational companies' foreign investments...of their nice franchises.
Ummm...let see...
I love my Baconator in Wendys...fast food, I love it
Future Shop covered by Bestbuy....nice stuff :D
And Buffalo Airport-its the closest airport from our location...save about 2 hours of drive hehe

Personally?
...Everything in Wal-Mart..and the Supermarket culture.

Wal-Mart made my life easy, Sal.
They give me cheap stuff and my life is cheaper.
I love em so much!

EDIT: Well, not always cheap..but cheaper than our local economy.

You're right of course they certainly are competetive...But it's their off-shore practises which give them that edge. Also I just hate shopping there. ;-) But the old greeters they hire are cute.

Hey you guys ... this is the "favourite things" thread, not the b*tch and moan thread. Take the crap elsewhere. Read the first post in the thread ... "If you can't say anything nice, go to Wreck Beach".

Fer gawds sake, can't you just set your bullsh*t attitude aside for one single thread? Stay out of it if you haven't got something positive to contribute?? We're supposed to be adults here and, as such, have some modicum of control over ourselves. Exercise it.

Back to topic ...
Dexter, I agree with your comments about American history. You always hear about their battles, the "Blues and the Greys", all that sort of thing. I find it fascinating that everyone seems to know the history and be proud of it.

Even their Mount Rushmore shows a respect for the past ... in a big, extravagant way. Pretty cool.

no one has mentioned it but this should ring out for all humanity.
this opening line to a famous American document.
"We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal."

Way to go Cosmo..;-)

I heard something this morning when I was surfing to hear the overnight news....the two blowdrys were talking about immigration and the U.S........

One said: "The United States isn't just a nation to many people in the world, it is an ideology...."

Right on - there is a feeling of responsibility assigned, independent thought, 'get er done' cheerleading, 'what do you need?' queries, and a positive attitude, even when things are at their lowest.

It makes me feel alive.

If this is finally beaten out of the American people as their standing on the world stage diminishes, I hope the same attitude and way of life is picked up by another nation or group of nations.

It belongs to everyone and I hope everyone gets to experience it some day.
