I just remembered something - my dad was 13 lbs and a few oz.... and it was no C-Section either out in rural Alberta. She just made it to the hospital to give birth. My grandmother must have been a strong woman.

heavy babies are a blessing most of the time, which people often don't realize They do half the work for you, and there's plenty for your muscles to work against, rather than having to cramp harder to reach the smaller baby. Big babies aren't always a bad thing.

I think my mother said I was more difficult than my brother. He was late at 10 lbs something, and I was early, and upper 7 somewhere.

My daughter was 7lb 13oz. My son was 9lb 4oz. I can't really compare the two births well though, because my daughter was a lot of excrutiating 'trying not to push' as we rushed to make the hospital in time (crowning as we came through the ER doors), and with my son it was a relaxed home birth in a nice comfy pool. Just too many factors to compare the two.

my son did have shoulders like a line backer though... that was painful (but not a guaranteed issue with a heavy baby, and not a guaranteed non-issue just because they're light). My poor hubby didn't enjoy having to pull to get him free. lol.

Judging by the size of the baby I was surprised to find out he isn't American.

Ha... no doc. no pics. Not of that one. But boy, did the midwives ever make GOOD use of the zoom when we gave birth to my son. Talk about embarrassing getting THOSE pics developed!

This was her 12th child. holy cow someone ship some condoms to Russia.

All three of my kids were at least 21 inches, but the biggest was "only" 9lb 4 oz. All were c-sections which made the delivery easy, but boy were they heavy to lift afterward!

russia recently had a conception day due to lack of new borns....they gave a holiday to an area and told them to make babies with it...anyone having a baby exactly nine months later gets prizes...

Newfoundland!
perhaps they're having less babies but more actual weight of baby-flesh. Perhaps 1000 russian babies is equal to 3000 taiwanese babies....
