In a groundbreaking study, the Journal of Nanotechnology has published a study that found silver nanoparticles kills HIV-1 and is likely to kill virtually any other virus.

I installed a drinking water filter in our kitchen a few months back. The filter manufacturer claims the filter takes out viruses. The filter has a pre-filter to get out the big lumps...a ceramic filter containing silver nitrate, and an activated charcoal filter. Funny, I've never thought of silver as something to kill viruses.

I'd like to see a couple of independent observations of these findings but this does sound like a huge discovery.

As an aside, has anyone thought about what happens when we start stopping all the things that kill us other than wearing out? Puts a pretty big strain on our limited resources. I wonder how that would stack up against the limited reproduction rate in developed countries.

Well if it stops lycanthropy, its a small wonder it takes out other, less virus strains. :p

Juan, I think the medicinal use of colloidal silver has been around for quite awhile. Trying to weed through the benefits vs risks is a bit of a challenge though.

yes indeed...The romans thought lead was a panacea...ate pellets of the stuff.....heavy metals are not good snack items......

The OP makes me wonder though....how in the hell did something so simple go unnoticed through the entire 20th century...

I know people who are crazy enough to drink colloidal silver. Blows me away. I'd gladly use it to clean, but not so much to drink!
