You were running electrical out to a garage...why three feet deep? I dug plenty of trenches this summer, deepest I went was about 10 inches, enough so the bobcat wouldn't break the conduit.

code. I think it was 2 foot minimum, but they request a bit deeper, and hubby did it. He dug it nearly 3, so that the caution tape you run in the trench above it was about 2 feet deep. That way, when someone starts digging, they hit the tape first, and know they're about to strike cable.

We put sand down on top, for the same reason as the tape. But from what I saw, safety concerns aren't exactly the number 1 concern in Albertas booming economy.

I did the hydro to the garage thing a while back, there was only 40 amps and I was blowing fuses8O. I now have 60 amps with breakers. Instead of digging down three feet I just went a foot and put concrete on top of the conduit. The area was beside the driveway and digging without a machine was painful :x to say the least. When we ran the gas and hydro to the shed for the pool pump and heater it was easier digging so I made it three feet there.

They're picky about it here in the city. But, I'm sure plenty of people just do what they want, and leave it up to the city to prove the damn trench isn't three feet deep. lol.

Get the sod on top quick! I can't imagine digging all those trenches three feet deep. On some properties we would be digging through gravel and clay if t'were the case...although maybe that's why my company charged so much for building ponds, pocket the extra cash.....

Gosh and I thought there was some real stick comparisons going on...how disappointing..

Near the end of high school I developed quite the affinity for woodland fungus of all varieties

So do you know much about fungus? I just discovered (and took pictures of) a lovely yellow mushroom that was growing in one of my house plants. It's a bright banana yellow. Had a closed cap 2 days ago and then yesterday I noticed it had opened up and today it's dead. Very sad.

Any idea what kind of muchroom...the cap was not smooth, or shiny.

Oh, they've been dug (through clay), the conduits run, and filled back in. We're moving on to the next stages of the project now. My hubby (even when digging through clay), moves quick.
